Big fan of Ben Hassett and of course Pat but this is a no. Heavy handed on the retouching and the lighting looks amateur studio tutorial light.
Nice to see one of the legends of the beauty industry on the cover but the hat and retouching didn't work.
She's the most deserving cover star that they have in years. This issue is one for the books for sure.

Don’t want to be that guy who has to remind everyone that she’s not just a brand of the beauty industry-- but Pat really has been a vital part of the fashion totem for decades, and is a titan alongside other titans in the fashion realm. Unlike these lessers :cough:Jeffrey Starr/Kylie Jenner:cough: with their influences only over 12yo, Pat’s proved her worth in fashion long long long before she had a beauty line. Even Francois Nars and Kevin Aucoin would pale by comparison next to her influences throughout the decades in fashion. (This cover however LOL ...She looks like an airbrushed portrait… I wished she-- or the editors, would have the confidence/foresight to have her appear unretouched with just her artistry to showcase.)
Pat's story is so disappointingly cut-and-paste of looks she’s done in the past. It’s very much the sort of thing that MU gurus would do as a tiresome “challenge”. I guess Allure's target demographic are 12yos.
I love that she is on the cover but everything from her cover to her ed are disappointing. She is beautiful and does not need that much retouching. Even her Meisel’s and Ben hasset’s photos does not look that Avatar-ish. As for the story. Pat is legendary but also very versatile. Yes, her amazing make-up for Dior comes to mind but she is more than that. I wish there were productions ambitious enough to showcase that.
I saw this on RBdigitalmagazines (magazines via the local library) and I think the page count was between 80-90 pages? It's probably time for Allure to become a digital-only title.
That sentence makes me realise I pay more attention to Allure than I do to the contents of American Vogue, because I always assume the latter still manages to keep its head above water with a page count that's beyond a hundred.
