I had a standing order for this magazine, which I cancelled shortly after Christmas.
For all its merits and faults under Linda Wells, I was a hardcore fan of Allure - but it's turned into an insipid waste of paper. It takes a certain skill to handle superficial topics and add some depth to them, as well as cultivating your audience. Linda was speaking to readers who could remember the 80s and 90s, as well as younger people picking the magazine up because a certain celebrity was on the front cover.
And the magazine was already running editorials with different ethnicities long before the likes of US Vogue cranked up their commitment, so I can't even say the new editor has pushed forward strongly on that front. That agenda was already in place.
Allure is going to die with her name on it.
