Elle Germany is celebrating their 20th birthday with 20 covers, and Alyssa has one of them! You can vote for her as your favourite on that link, but there's only a wee thumbnail of it and I can't find a larger version yet. Doesn't help that I don't speak a word of German...

Oh, HURRAH, how exciting!!! We've so many fab models out there right now it's a great idea to showcase them all. I'm so glad Alyssa's success hasn't been forgotten now that she's no longer on the catwalk - with ten fab years behind her capped off with a Chanel campaign she really deserves the accolades. I hope they interview them all.

She's actually upon the cover, too! Is this out Wednesday? Can't wait!

WE'VE all heard of the gum leaf mafia of Australian actors in Hollywood, now New York-based model Alyssa Sutherland reckons it's time for a new term to be coined for the troop of local lookers on the march to Tinseltown.
"I haven't thought of one but maybe someone else should,'' Sutherland told fashion editor Jen Melocco yesterday.
Right now there is something with Australian models - they are in every major campaign.''
Sutherland last night donned a white shirt and full skirt for The White Dinner in aid of the White Shirt Campaign at Luxe Studios in East Sydney, which raises funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Her attendance followed on from a NY photo shoot with the who's who of Australian models including Miranda Kerr and Catherine McNeil for Madison magazine's cover story.
From fronting glossy titles, Sutherland is now moving into film-making in the US.
After a bit part in The Devil Wears Prada, she's set for her next screen scene, playing a ghost in a new horror film, Don't Look Up (due out next year.)
"Acting is something I was destined to do. When I was young I used to say to mum, `put me on the TV', long before anyone decided I should be a model.''

BRISBANE-raised model Alyssa Sutherland will enjoy a two-and-a-half week homecoming from Saturday to attend her sister's wedding late this month.
The flame-haired 26-year-old has lived in New York for the better part of 10 years but said she loves to get home to see her family.

"I don't come home as often as I'd like," Sutherland told Confidential. "It would always be nice to see them on a more regular basis.
"It's nice to have that relaxed atmosphere.
"It's really nice to say, 'What do you want to do for dinner?' then throw a couple of things on the barbie and I love hanging out with my mum and going to the dog park, too."
Sutherland, who was raised at Chermside, on Brisbane's northside, said she gets recognised more often in America than at home.
"I've been recognised quite a few times in New York. I was shopping the other day and I heard an Australian accent and heard a guy start whispering to his friend, 'She's from Australia'.
"I love seeing Aussies and hearing the accent overseas."
Although the model has worked for Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Moschino, Yves Saint Laurent and, more recently, Calvin Klein, Sutherland says she is looking to make the transition into acting.
"I've done a bit of work in an independent horror film which will be coming out in 2009 called Don't Look Up," she said.
"I'm working very hard on the acting right now. I'm in auditions and I'm working very hard.
"I don't really like to compare myself to other people but I do just adore Cate Blanchett. I think she's just wonderful."

Fabulous, thank you! That gallery is a bunch of pics from news articles over the years, it's funny to see the old pics when she was younger and had a more rounded face, and some of those shots are stunning. Great news about her sister getting married.

I do find the "I always wanted to do acting" thing strange, though.. in all her early interviews she would say that she wanted to study genetics, and the first mention I found of acting was around 2001/2. Every time they asked what she'd be doing were she not modelling she'd said about the applied science, and nothing whatsoever on acting. Given too that she's said before how awkward she felt in front of the camera when starting modelling it seems strange now that she reckons she was 'destined to do'! She did some singing recordings around that time as well, but nothing seems to have come of that as I've never seen it mentioned again.

It's fabulous that she's doing well in the acting and getting out there and into auditions and roles, I really hope she does well. That vid interview is great, and I think playing a ghost would be fun! I still haven't watched those Huge episodes properly, they play too jarringly on my computer, I keep meaning to watch them on my partner's machine instead.
