She pretty much always has a strong brow and lip. I loved her makeup with the lilac gown, it was pretty perfect.
vogue.comAmal Clooney Steps Out in Straight-From-The-Runway Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2018
Amal Clooney participated in a discussion with National Public Radio host Kelly McEvers earlier today in San Jose, California for the Watermark Conference for Women. Clooney made headlines earlier this week with husband George in donating $500,000 to the Parkland shooting relief effort (and will be walking in the March For Our Lives anti-gun march), and today’s conversation touched upon the efforts needed to enact change and reform. For the occasion, Clooney opted for a demure but eye-catching dress plucked right from Diane von Furstenberg’s fall 2018 runway.
The geometric patterned dress, part of the house's first collection under its new creative director Nathan Jenden, was a bold new look for Clooney, who has often favored stripes, fringe, and metallics in the past. A contrasting graphic collar and button placket and waist-cinching belt felt both retro and modern, while Gilan’s diamond earrings punctuated the look with subtle sparkle.
Amal Clooney Gets Back to Work Like a Boss in the Ladylike Skirt Suit
Amal Clooney is back at work in New York City. The human rights attorney was spotted earlier this week in an Alexander Wang trench dress—a look first sported by Cardi B at New York Fashion Week—and has since swapped out the tailored toppers for a prim, sophisticated approach to the skirt suit. Clooney’s office attire has run the gamut from printed Gucci dresses to suiting by Max Mara; today’s vintage-esque ensemble was infused with a dose of girlboss flair through power-player accessorizing.
Clooney’s collared suit, with its demure cut and nubby texture, recalled '60s styles favored by Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy, while the pale nude hue hinted at the spring season ahead. Her tonally coordinated accessories brought the retro separates into 2018: a white Roger Vivier tote in lieu of a traditional briefcase and Jimmy Choo stiletto pumps for a leg-lengthening finish.
vogue.comAmal Clooney and Cardi B Have this Fashion Staple in Common
Amal Clooney and Cardi B may seem like opposites in just about every aspect, but today, the human rights attorney proved that they have at least one thing in common: an Alexander Wang trench. While out in New York, Clooney sported the same black leather wrap style with high-contrast khaki flaps that Cardi recently wore in the front rows during New York Fashion Week, proving its versatility. Clooney let the statement coat do the talking by layering a black dress underneath, while her skin-tone stilettos had a leg-lengthening effect. And while her retro-inspired cat-eye shades added a further touch of glamour, her roomy haute handbag and binder were all business.
Amal Clooney Steps Out in Spring’s Most Cheerful Color
Amal Clooney has just returned to New York City after speaking at the Work Human 2018 conference in Austin, Texas. Today, she stepped out in a stylish look that recalled the ’60s and came in spring’s most cheerful color.
Clooney’s powder blue double-breasted coat had a fluffy fur collar that resembled the styles favored by Jackie Kennedy. More recently, the shade has been worn by current First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Rania of Jordan as tailored overcoats; Clooney’s slightly more voluminous piece was offset by a body-skimming sheath. The mock-neck cheetah-print dress was an edgy foil to her polished coat and hinted at Edie Sedgwick and the Factory Girl era. Black stilettos, Dior’s Bar bag, and oversize shades finished the look.
Amal Clooney Really, Really Loves The Leather Trench
Amal Clooney is having a leather-trench moment. Her recent working wardrobe in Manhattan—where she's been visiting Columbia Law School and working on a case defending two Reuters journalists imprisoned in Myanmar—has prominently featured variations on the style, from a mixed-material black-and-tan topper owned by Cardi B. to a rich green Michael Kors version. This morning, when the world's most famous human-rights attorney stepped out in a glossy taupe jacket by Diane Von Furstenberg, she brought to mind the adage that three's a trend.
Today's outfit offered a modern slant on Annie Hall style. A pair of fluid, floor-length wide-leg pants in a graphic check and autumnal palette cemented the '70s mood, while a black knit top kept the look from reading too retro. A Dior tote and oversize round-lens shades lent that crucial touch of glamour—a finishing touch we've come to expect from Clooney.
vogue.comAmal Clooney Beats April Showers in Straight-From-the-Runway Michael Kors Fall 2018
Amal Clooney is a busy woman: last week, she announced her latest case, defending the rights of two imprisoned Reuters journalists in Myanmar, and earlier today in New York City, she suited up to head to her old stomping grounds at Columbia Law School (Clooney was a visiting professor and senior fellow there in spring 2015). The human rights attorney's New York wardrobe this season has focused on a strongly tailored aesthetic of coats and suiting, and today’s look ushered in a colorful new variation of that theme. To combat the April showers, Clooney wrapped up in Michael Kors’s emerald green leather trench, plucked from the all-American designer’s Fall 2018 runway. This latest piece comes on the Jimmy Choo-clad heels of another leather trench, by Alexander Wang, which is also owned by Cardi B.
The coat's rich, unexpected hue lent a sophisticated twist to her black and white underpinnings. A simple knit top and Emilia Wickstead button-front skirt made for a crisp, graphic combination, while strong black accessories—patent slingbacks and a structured Dior handbag—let the world know who's boss.
Amal Clooney Takes a Page Out of Jackie Kennedy’s Playbook
Amal Clooney is currently in New York due to her role as a visiting fellow and lecturer at Columbia University. And during her time in the city, the world’s most famous human rights attorney has mainly worn ladylike skirt suits and slick trench coats. Today, Clooney upped the ante in tailored separates with a throwback vibe that channeled the bicolor ensembles sported by Jackie Kennedy during her tenure as a Doubleday editor.
Clooney topped her look with a fluid Max Mara frock coat, a change from the strictly tailored trenches she’s donned over the past two weeks. It was the perfect complement for her simple knit top and glen plaid pants. Unlike First Lady Melania Trump and actress Blake Lively, Clooney opted to break up the graphic Savile Row fabric with a neutralizing element to let it pop. It also allowed Clooney to infuse the fabric with a feminine twist. Exaggerated cat-eye shades amped up the Mod effect, while Dior’s Bar bag and bicolor stilettos finished the look with retro polish.
Amal Clooney Blossoms in Dolce & Gabbana’s Floral Print
Amal Clooney is on a street style streak. In addition to her work defending two imprisoned Reuters journalists, the human rights attorney and Vogue May cover star is currently revisiting her role as a visiting lecturer and senior fellow at Columbia University School of Law’s Human Rights Institute in New York City—where she's been sporting series of looks fit for the classroom, courtroom, or even after-hours. Clooney’s office-friendly ensemble today centered around Dolce & Gabbana’s floral print skirt, a motif that seemed to herald the arrival of spring even if the weather has yet to fully catch up.
The skirt recalls a similar piece in lace from the Italian house Clooney wore in September 2016 while highlighting her case against ISIS. Florals-wise, Clooney has often gravitated towards micro-prints from Giambattista Valli (flirty tops in New York, coats and dresses in Paris) and Michael Kors (on a dress in New York), but today’s bunch felt like it ushered in a new season, literally and metaphorically, for the star. The oversize roses were the dominating element, so Clooney kept her accessories neutral, though black-and-white stilettos with a racer-like graphic put some extra spring in her step.
vogue.comAmal Clooney Takes Her Wardrobe to an Edgy New Place
Amal Clooney is presently at work defending two imprisoned Reuters journalists and revisiting her role as a guest lecturer at Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute, and dressing the part in polished, bossy looks. But even a top human-rights attorney needs a night off. Last night in downtown Manhattan, Clooney looked almost like an off-duty rock star, albeit a polished one, in a biker jacket, skinny jeans, and edgy boots.
The look falls in line with Clooney’s previous off-the-clock outings, which have features distressed denim with classic biker jackets (from Balenciaga) and wedge sneakers (from Leather Crown). However, last Clooney’s Veronica Beard jacket upped the ante on the traditional biker look with its pea coat-like top half. Swapping out the slouchy, boyfriend fit jeans for 70s inspired flares, Clooney got a leg up on next season’s most compelling denim hue, in an anthracite pair by R13. Thin-heeled booties with a buckle detail were a kicky finishing touch.
vogue.comAmal Clooney Shows How to Rock the Romper Like a Grownup for Husband George’s Birthday
Amal Clooney is a co-chair of tonight’s Met Gala, though just yesterday she was involved in an altogether more intimate celebration: her husband George’s 57th birthday. The couple appeared to be in a party mood at Tribeca hotspot Locanda Verde last night, with the human rights attorney dressed in a flirty Stella McCartney romper for the occasion.
Clooney has never been afraid to switch gears in her wardrobe, moving seamlessly between ladylike suiting for the office to more playful leg-baring looks after hours. She raised the bar on the classic romper accessorizing with a waist-cinching belt and neutral tone scrappy sandals. A coordinating gold box clutch finished the look with sophisticated polish.
vogue.comAmal Clooney Changes at the Met Gala, Channels a Living Stained Glass Window in Tom Ford
Amal Clooney made her grand entrance to the Met in Richard Quinn’s evening dress—worn over Audrey Hepburn-style cigarette trousers—but it was her look inside the gala that was truly divine. Clooney switched things up into a long floor-skimming evening dress by Tom Ford in shimmering cardinal crimson which had the mosaic effect of a stained glass window.
Clooney has always had a penchant for wearing metallic looks after dark—metallic minidresses by Versace, gilded floor-length number by Margiela—and last night she upped the ante. The bodice was composed of mirrored micro shards that caught the soft lighting in the hallways of museum. Tonally coordinated crimson heels made for a papal finish.
