EXQUISITE PEARLS: Chia showing a RM150,000 pearl jewellery set that will be given to the winner of this year's Anugerah Bintang Popular award in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
KUALA LUMPUR: International model Amber Chia will soon add another feather to her cap when she debuts as an actress in the first Malaysian Chinese feature length movie, scheduled for release in May.
“I want to try new things instead of just modelling, perhaps even appear in Malay movies although I will first need to improve my command of Bahasa Malaysia,” she said.
The Cantonese film
The 3rd Generation, directed by C.L. Hor, is set in the 1970s and 1980s and traces the rise and fall of the Chan family. The entire cast and crew are Malaysians.
Chia is also working on a Mandarin language fashion and beauty television programme, tentatively titled
City Ambero, set to be aired on TV2 in May. Chia, the face of
Guess, was speaking to the press while modelling a RM150,000 pearl jewellery set, from the Rafflesia Pearl Centre, that will be given to the winner of this year's
Anugerah Bintang Popular readers' choice awards organised by a local Bahasa Malaysia daily.
