hmmm.......taking into account that next week's mentor is Neil Diamond, i think Syesha is the next to go. i honestly NEVER thought she'd last this long in the competition. i've always thought that the last two girls standing will be Brooke and Carly

And didn't we all think that musical night would be the kiss of death for Jason? Or that Mariah music would off David Cook?

When it comes down to it, you can't base it on the week's theme AT ALL. It comes down to song choices, considering any good song can be molded to fit a good singer.

But I'm (sadly) sure that Brooke will be around for a while, considering she is the top choice over at Vote for the Worst...

..i mean, i just watch idol and vote but i do remember the sanjaya hype that went down even though i didnt watch that season. I just think something like Vote for the Worst is so obnoxious! haha, i mean if brooke is your favorite AND shes the worst then yeah go ahead and vote. But otherwise, i wish they wouldnt...althought i know its inevitable.

I agree about the song choice/theme theory. I was positive that cook would struggle with mariah and he rocked it. I'm REALLY feeling like syesha won't do well with neil diamond because he's not a belter, but maybe she'll work it.

I love Castro so much, and he's so original, but he just isn't up to snuff compared to Syesha and the Davids.

okay! The following is a spoiler! if you dont want to know what happened.




but here are my thoughts....



Jason-the first song was definitely better than the second just because it was upbeat and showed his lower vocal ability. i loved his hair tonight and his voice sounded great, but the second was a little painful. im biased, but i have to admit this wasnt his best night.
david cook-i just dont get him. i DEFINITELY understand that if he wins he will be famous. However, i dont listen to the type of music that he sings in my own life...its just not my taste. he has undeniably amazing vocals, but i never enjoy the performance because its just not my type of music. he was great tonight though. one of the best.
brooke-she is getting crazier and crazier! she looked kind of manic and wide-eyed and pale and i hated her sparkly pants. i feel like shes kind of falling apart at the seams. both of her songs were the worst this week. and her song choices were pretty weak as well.
david a-DUH. he worked it out. he sang something upbeat and proved that he doesnt only do ballads well, he really is a major pop singer. and the lip-licking has subsided considerably, i noticed! i also loved the stripes
syesha-the second was fun just because it was SO personality infused. the first bored me but my mom loved it.

because of syeshas small fan base, im thinking she may be in the bottom with brooke. week after week, jason castros huge fan base pushes him through.
so im thinking top 4 will be (fingers crossed!) david david jason syesha.
brooke needs to leave before jason. but because of votefortheworst, maybe syesha will go home.

hm. we'll see!

okay...just finished watching the show....my thoughts...

jason i love this kid, his tone is gorgeous and he sings with such emotion, but i agree with simon that he hasnt been himself these past 2 weeks....he was so half-***ed tonight, what's up with that? maybe he doesnt want to be in the competition anymore, that's what it seems like....he used to be laid back, now it just seems like he's falling asleep as he sings. he barely moves and he doesnt even try to project....i dont know, he was bizarre tonight, which is a shame because i think he has so much potential

archuleta i didnt love his song choice but his voice is velvet-y beautiful as always. i have to admit i'm getting a bit bored with him, he doesnt ever do anything new, but i cant fault his vocals, nor can i say anything bad about his effort because i really do think he gives it his all each week and he's just so sweet

brooke the first song choice was terrible, very dumb choice unfortunately, it was way too low. i understand why she did it, so that she could go up into her higher register for the latter part of the song, but it wasnt enough to make it good. too fast, she wasnt breathing properly, and was getting drowned out by the band. second song -- i LOVED it. this is perfect brooke. sitting down behind the piano, singing a ballad, telling a story with her voice, simple, pure, emotional, beautiful. no-one does it better.

david cook i really didnt like the first song, nothing new there and his vocal was nothing special, but the 2nd song was amazing. i think he'll win and i think justice will be done if he does. he is original, he is talented, he can rock out but also sing a beautiful ballad, he knows how to arrange music, and he can bring something new to the industry. tick, tick, tick on simon's imaginary checklist.

syesha the girl can sing, no doubt, and i love that she's injecting more of her personality into her performance each week, she's cute and sweet and i'm starting to actually see glimpses of who she is. i loved the first song but wasnt too keen on the second one, very unoriginal. i think she might go home, but for the first time i'd be sad if she did...

based on these performances tonight, and on overall effort, i think jason needs to go home. it pains me to say that because i love his tone and have been a fan of his this season but tonight really disturbed me....he just seemed so disinterested. it makes me wonder if he really wants it, and i'd hate to see someone like brooke or syesha go before him, because i think they really put a lot more effort in week after week, and you can tell they pour their heart and soul into this. i hope jason picks up his game, but after tonight, i think it would be fair if he were the next to be eliminated.

Jason - completely forgettable. he surely wasn't himself and i thought he didn't even exerted some effort to improve his performance on the second song. i think he's the next to go


David Cook - i thought he gave the strongest performance. the first song was bland but the second was fantastic. i was just disturbed on his outfit for some reason


Brooke - the first song was a disaster. it didn't fit her vocal range but the second was phenomenal. she was back to her element!


David Archuleta - i thought the theme fits him perfectly. he was ok but he doesn't bring anything new to all of his performances.


Syesha - i thought the second showed that she's really a threatrical performer and i like the fact that she injected her personality on her performances (finally!)...but why was she barefoot?

I was so glad to see Brooke get the boot. She seems like a nice person but child can't sing a lick. If it were a perfect world I would want Syesha to win since she is the best singer hands down (imho) but I just have this feeling that it will be between Eddie Munster Archuletta & Trout Mouth Cook (yes I know those names seem a bit mean but these are my nicknames for them...). Castro seems to be always out of it, not sure if he's high (on life that is ) or what but yikes! He's also not a good singer so if he could leave before Syesha that would be grand but probably won't happen.
