American Vs. European Style

danslair i think you need to take this elsewhere...you are COMPLETELY off topic....why dont you send berose a pm because it's really unpleasant and in fact unfair for everyone else participating in this thread to have to sort through a completely off topic post...

mette i'm curious- how did your paper end up?...

a reminder to please stay on topic and use pm for any other matters...

North American style vs. European style

What's the difference?
Is there a difference?
Which one is better in your opinion?
Do they have different styles?

I was discussing this a week ago with a friend of mine, and I was very curious what you guys think about it. I still haven't figured it out. Also because I don't really know the difference between the 2.

I don't think you can talk of the two as if they were dualities.. each entity is so diverse.

You can find preppy dressers, emos, Goths, gangsta-bling-bling, librarian chic etc etc both in Europe and in the US.

I think the casual nature of American clothes is just a reflection of our lifestyle: wake up, rush to work/school, work all day, race through lunch at our desks, rush home, long commute, take care of kids, rush through dinner, rush rush, rush.

You've hit the nail on the head, and I completely agree with your points. The American lifestyle is completely different than a European lifestyle, or any other lifestyle for that matter
I'm a bit confused by this. The lifestyle baRose described sounds typical of any urban advanced capitalist area. It sounds like the lives of most people I know...
I realise that workweek policies are not strictly enforced in the US, but just because France has a 35-hour work week by law is not to say that Europeans in general have plenty of time for shopping and coordinating outfits over cappuccino. :innocent:
In fact, European countries like Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia all have higher annual working hours (according to OECD figures). As does Japan, and we all know how well turned out people there tend to be. :P
