Amy Winehouse Denied U.S. Visa

The troubled British singer will not perform at the awards ceremony in L.A.

Amy Winehouse will not perform at the Grammy Awards this weekend because she's been refused permission to touch down on American soil, according to her publicist

"The singer has been invited to appear at the event on Sunday after receiving an amazing six nominations for the prestigious awards," reads a statement issued by her publicist on Thursday. "Unfortunately, her application for a visa to enter the United States of America has been rejected at this time by the American Embassy in London.

"Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago, and although disappointed with the decision, has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery," the statement continues. "Amy has been treated well and fairly by the Embassy staff and thanks everyone for their support in trying to make this happen. There will of course be other opportunities and she very much looks forward to visiting America in the near future."

Did she have to test and failed? Or is it something to do with her arrest in Norway?...

That's too bad, I was looking forward to seeing her.
I just hope she continues on her road to recovery.

^I heard it would be down to her arrest in norway due to drug possession, but i am still really surprised she was turned down.
Although i would have loved to see her perform, i am glad in a way, because this may be another factor which may show her she needs to get better!

No Amy at the Grammys I'm sad but she definitely needs to stay in rehab. So I hope she will get well soon. I guess Mark (Ronson) won't perform without her

I'm not surprised she was denied her visa. That sh*t is tough enough as it is, but add current arrest and fine for youknowwhat in Norway, video of her smoking youknowwhat, and rehab...it doesn't paint a good picture. I do feel sorry for her, but I think its for the best. I read that they will have her broadcast her performance via satellite anyway. But the last thing she needs is going abroad and partying.

Amy is granted US visa after all but will NOT perform at the Grammys
Amy Winehouse was all smiles yesterday as she has finally been granted a US visa, however, the singer will not perform live at the Grammys.
The star had previously been denied entry to the US and made plans to perform at the awards ceremony on Sunday via a satellite link from London.
Winehouse and her acclaimed "Back to Black" album are nominated for Grammys in six categories.

Her spokesman said: "Following further discussions involving the US Embassy in London and officials in the United States, Amy Winehouse has been granted a visa to enter the United States of America.
"Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be travelling to the US to perform at the Grammys in person. However, she will be performing via satellite broadcast as previously announced yesterday."
The singer's performance is being highly anticipated as she appears to be going from strength to strength in rehab.
Emerging from a London dentist, Amy flashed a bright white smile to onlookers before being escorted by her father Mitch back to the centre she is receiving treatment in.
This is a far-cry from December when the Back to Black singer was spotted with gaps in her mouth suggesting her teeth had fallen out. !!

The singer's appearance has greatly improved and with the singer looking better than she has for months

A friend close to her admitted at the time: "She has one missing from the front of her mouth, and another one at the back which is less visible.
"Her mouth is full of holes and she is desperately worried she is going to lose more. She has actually pulled a tooth out herself, which is absolutely disgusting."
"Her gums are always red and sore as a result of it and some of the teeth are loosening."
Rehab appears to be agreeing with Amy in more ways than one.
The singer seemed focused, was well-dressed and had even painted her nails red for the occasion.

Ugh, this makes me so mad. So many people need and are waiting for a visa (esp. work) and they reversed their decision. I like Amy and her music a lot but that's ridiculous, seriously.
