I love the concept and psychology of balanced androgyny. I believe it is essential to live, being able to understand and harness the energies of both. What I've been into lately is the concept of epicene (name of my blog) which is the absolute loss of either masculine or feminine traits, this wonderful gray area where these don't have a place or meaning. It's very freeing to think that way.

I've always thought of an androgynous person as being someone where you truly can't tell what gender the person is, or as having a mix of both masculine and feminine features.

If I saw that model on the street I would just assume he was a woman since he looks very straightforwardly feminine, rather than truly androgynous. I dunno.

I'm the biggest fan of androgynity, but Grace Jones has never been my cup of... coffee. I don't know why, she is very much THE symbol of female androgynity, but there is just something. I can't explain

#866 that guy looks girlier than many women I've seen. kind of scary, but he's beautiful in an androgynous way.

I love androgyny in women, but I think it can sometimes go a bit far. For example, an androgynous physique on a woman is in most cases unattractive and a little extreme whether it is really masculine (muscular) or boyish if you get what i mean. But i think that a woman having masculine facial features almost always ends up looking gorgeous. I'm surprised Amanda Moore hasn't been mentioned recently, she's almost the perfect example of androgyny besides Grace Jones. She's very manly looking but still manages to retain her femininity like Freja Beha.

imo amanda lost her magic when she had that masculine shift in 2005-2006. she pushed androgyne too far and kind of removed her feminine side. i hope the same won't happen with freja.
anyway, as i said previously in this thread, me i belong to that minority of daria admirers/fans who consider her as a gender daring model.

I agree that Daria's gender daring but I think though that because she hasn't really done much stuff challenging the masculine side of her people don't see her as gender daring.

^ that's true, that her gender talent gets wasted because of lancome, but it's also true that even when her masculine side is well evident ppl seems unable to recognise, like they are blind. :
but i wouldn't consider her as a proper androgyne, more as a sort of *transgender*, with a dynamic presence of both genders at the same time.

I think it's because she is very butch. Like some women are gorgeous, in an adrogyny way. Some guys have that "beautiful look"
I just look at Grace and say " wow what a man"
