no, we shouldn't, and that's why this cliche, or flavor of the month, or pop-model, or whatever you want to call it should not be in Ann's show.

Was it necessary to phrase this so rudely?

rudely??? and saying someone is ugly and looks like a ostrich is the height of good manners

I never said that. I'm just saying that your post could have been put more politely. You're coming across as quite aggressive.

'Rude' exists in every culture, and is easily recognizable in every culture as well.

easy now...it wasn't a particularly rude comment...and certainly no ruder than faust's...we do need some wiggle room so we can converse and disagree...
:flower:...
welcome melbguy...as you can see we are a group with strong ideas...hope you don't mind playing along...

personally i disagree with faust's comment...i think this entire collection is a departure for ann...and i am happy about it...as everyone has commented...it is much more poetic and feminine than her usual fare...while still being quirky and unique...i think gemma fits that bill perfectly...

as for gemma being borderline ugly...well..that's really a simple matter of personal opinion...many people would argue that patti smith is ugly as heck and that many of ann's regular mannequins are far too androgynous to ever be called pretty-ie-hannelore, erin, kirsten owen...i think gemma looks wonderful in the clothes and they look wonderful on her...and i'm glad ann is pushing herself ...it's a great evolution for her...imho...very different and yet still very her...

i think that sometimes, in difficult times like these ...people yearn for softness and prettiness...it seems to me that ann has tapped into this energy along with some others...including dries and rei @ comme...

however-i have the same issue with gemma as helena...i think she looks a bit too young...it's a bit sinister...but that actually works quite well in this context...so, again...i think it works here...:flower:

softgrey thank you good comments (to be honest dont know if I was as offended by the negative Gemma comments as someone saying they are having their intelligence insulted and then spelling the word ostrich as ostridge) Something to ponder

Melbguy . :flower:

It could be that the spelling of the bird as ' ostridge ' is American , rather than the European - Australasian spelling , ' ostrich ' . After all , americans write ' checks ' for their purchases , whereas in the UK , we write ' cheques ' etc etc .

haha...good try kit...but an ostrich is an ostrich ...
it's more likely the fact that russian is faust's mother tongue that he mistakenly spelled it like partridge...it sounds that way when you say it with an american accent...
^_^

melbguy...we have to overlook some spelling quirks here at the fashion spot...as we are a very international community and have members from all over the world...:flower:

Oh wow I didn't see the second page with more pictures. I LOVE the menswear. The womenswear doesn't pop as much for me initially, but I do like it. Thanks everyone for the pictures .

I really like the volume on the bottom, becomes very imamterial with the texture.
I also like the way the two straps blend into the slit and strap detailing of the cleavage, very subtle. very natural.

I m wondering if the beading on the first post is well balanced, i feel like theyr is a little too much, feels a little stiff. i like the way the shapes of the beads are different from what we would expect. they feel like crucifix so much even though theyr not. some kind of leaves.

i love  Ann and all  of Antwerp s  energy.

If you are trying to draw a parallel between one spelling error and someone's degree of intelligence, shouldn't you question your own intelligence (or at least your arrogance, mr. 9 posts) first?

melbguy - why would you be offended by negative 'gemma' comments - is she a friend or your sister or something? I can't see why else you would be offended by someone saying she looks like an ostrich.... something else to ponder

come on, i don't see why everyone is attacking melbguy...he can share his opinions and disagree like everyone else--and i can see where he is coming from

i am not attacking him...simply wondering why it would offend. I find it very odd how so many people speak about models as if they know them personally - a lot of people on tfs discuss models as if they are friends of theirs. I am interested to understand this attitude only.

it was quite petty to pick someone up for a spelling mistake - anyone can make such a mistake. I frequently do myslef.:woot:

well..not trying hype up this argument, but to play devils advocate-but i could see how the faust comment could rub one the wrong way...it comes off a little pretentious, but at the same time i have a sense of humor about things...but i'm speculating now-if melbguy chooses to disagree i wouldn't necessarily think he thinks he knows gemma--thinking one can identify with a celebrity isn't an unusual thing...
also mr. 9 posts was just as petty...:flower: ok peace now!

but thats why its odd strawbutterb - he said he was 'offended'. I can understand disagreement but I can't understand offence being taken.
