they look patent, but i believe they are glazed leather.

Also, they up-ed the priced for all of the bags and I don't think the glazed leather looks any better. ... maybe even worse.

I received my Beckett chain bag in dark brown leather yesterday and I LOVE it! I can't believe Active Endeavors had it for 50% off... such a good deal when I was planning to get this bag anyway!
The quality is very good. I was a bit worried after reading some of the comments here, but this bag at least has no scratches or stray threads.

The chain on my bag is like the picture igotgoodjeans posted, with doubled up links. But I also saw a black Beckett at my mall with a single linked chain... so apparently there are three varieties of chain used on the Beckett!!!
Has anyone noticed this as well?

To add to my last comment...
I went to look at the bags on display at my mall and saw that the chain was indeed double linked, but the metal was much more gold in tone and had texture hammered into it. The texture made the chain quite rough, which I didn't like.
