Anna Wintour received a pie in her face !

She has such an arrogant persona from what I understand. This must be incredibly awkward for her...

I'm impressed PETA found a way to reach her through all that security... Very well thought out. I wonder if it was an inside job?

thanks for he info that there is another thread for this...sorry I was unaware...
i got excited by the news...

most of the information that i hear about anna wintour and fom what i observe doesnt paint her in a positive light. I personally dont know as i have never met the woman and what is one persons experience may not be my own.
Aside from that I DONT FIND THIS FUNNY AT ALL.
SOMETHING SERIOUS IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO SOMEBODY ONE DAY AND MAYBE WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE SORRY. FROM THOSE STUPID PETA PEOPLE TO SOME CRAZED MANIAC, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT AND THE SAD REALITY IS THE PERSON WHO GETS HURT MAY NOT BE THE PERSON IT WAS INTENDED FOR.........................

It's asymmetrical "warfare" isn't it? Anna Wintour commands a huge media empire that influences millions if not billions about what is chic and desirable, and little furry animals and their advocates, PETA, can only get their 15 seconds of attention by pie-throwing and other such tactics....

Frankly, there's no need to make a mountain out of a cream pie about Anna's self-esteem or her Chanel suit - there are plenty of sympathetic designers rushing to personally clean up the pie, and Chanel suits waiting in line to be rushed to her , and she'll make sure those F/W Vogues have big full page spreads of dead animals.

My only problem with PETA is that they are not in the least creative about their tactics. Come on, take a page from the Situationists!!

The b* deserved it.

DO YOU KNOW THIS WOMAN?
HAVE YOU EVER MET HER?
WHAT IS YOUR JUSTIFICATION FOR CALLING HER A B*?

i really think you should all direct your comments to the thread in the FASHION DAILY section of the board....
this topic has nothing to do with designers and collections.....
lets move on.....

Without getting into the fur debate, I just have to say, PETA, grow up!!!!

When you pull dumb sh*t like this all it does is overshadow your message. The fur industry isn't closing down, designers aren't switching to faux and you throwing pies in people's faces isn't saving any animals lives.

I don't remember who it was who said it, but PETA is just like any other extremist group (the example was Al-Queda) They attack whoever disagrees, there is no justification for that. I don't care what someone says to the contrary, but attacking people who don't share your views is just backwards.

Honestly, would PETA like it if an organization like PWWF (People Who Wear Fur) counter attacked and threw filet mignon and mink coats at the PETA folk?

Celinechic, in my opinion, Anna Wintour deserves much WORSE than just a pie in a face....

First of all, I am must start off by making myself clear.... there is a CLEAR difference between eating meat and wearing fur... one is a need.... while the other is ONLY ONLY ONLY a superficial investment... I could ask a thousand fur wearers WHY they wear real fur instead of faux fur.... ...and most of the time, the reasons they'd come up to me with is because it's soft, beautiful, it's warm, it's uncomparable to faux fur..... I don't qualify that as an argument, because all they want is the luxury of real fur... ...is that enough to justify the killing of TONS of animals for a fur coat!? I believe it is not...

I do not question Peta's way of getting their message through, they do what they believe is best to showcase their cause, and believe it or not, it is working... there are tons of other animal protection organisms out there... could you name me at least 5 of them (without using an internet search engine  ) just like that?! i don't think so, because not most of the time, but ALL the time, busy people do not have time to pay attention to causes which they feel is a waste of time...

People are looking for anything with shock value... that's what Peta does.. they desperately need attention for their cause, it's such a good one, and what they've done up till now is passable..... Ok so throwing a pie on someone's face is low... I AGREE. but anna Wintour is INDIRECTLY causing the killing of so many animals for stupid fur accessories/clothes... she deserves much worse than just a pie in the face... and the real purpose of it is public humiliation.... and it works..... !

At the end of the day, what does organizations like Peta really want?! they want us human beings who think we're on top of all things, to think about those poor animals' rights.... they do deserve to live their life without being killed JUST FOR THEIR FUR!!!! To be perfectly honest with you..., Peta could do MUCH WORSE and i'd still support them, because seriously how harmful is it to be thrown a pie at, or being a designer and having your runway invaded by peta people.... compared to being skinned...... and sometimes skinned ALIVE.... how horrible is that...!?

To be perfectly honest with you guys, this subject pains me so much.. it's just NOT RIGHT to kill a poor animal for your own superficial inner fur fantasies....

Don't you think it is just the slightest bit arrogant to assume that your value judgment is somehow better than another person's? You can sputter 'b-b-b-b-but i'm right!' all you want, and that would have just about the same effectiveness as your argument above--the sum is the same.

I'd love to hear the application of your logic, especially in the context of where this particular discussion is taking place, to the topic of PETA's war against the treatment of silkworms.

Oh yeah--throwing a pie in someone's face is just another signal to the rest of the world that they're a bunch of desperate assholes with way too much time on their hands.

Agree

No she doesn't. Just because one doesn't agree with her views doesn't mean that she deserves it. I bet a lot of people disagree with stuff that you do. Would you like a pie in the face every time someone disagrees with what you do or say?
There are tons of influential people such as judges, lawyers, and celebs who are disagreed with but don't get pies in the face.
With your reasoning everyone deserves to get a pie in the face every couple of weeks...think about how silly that reasoning is.
Agreed. Quite frankly I find the people of PETA are making morons out of themselves. They're tactics are stupid.

Firstly, throwing pies in her face only draws more attention to her and her influence.

Secondly, in the begining they probably thought humiliating her would make her stop. It obviously hasn't! So now they're just humiliating themselves making themselves look really stupid by putting themselves out of there way to do something that doesn’t even make a difference.
Totally agree!!!

And........ BTW:lol: .....the pie WAS vegen......it was TOFU! (seriously, it was!!)

that is so sad about her getting pied.. seriously how messed up is that

peta is annoying as hell

Geez, they're even wasting perfectly good money! Tofu doesn't come cheap. They could have used that money to buy food for a starving child...or since they don't care for that much, they could of used the money to buy animal food for their local SPCA.

And come to think of it, did they ever think that pissing her off like that only provokes her even more? What does she care? She's on top of the fashion world for crying out loud.

If I were her and these PETA dummies where to keep ticking me off so often I'd probably make an entire issue of Vogue devoted to fur!

Anna Wintour hit with cream pie!

Fur fury claims more fashion victims

French animal rights activists hit Anna Wintour, editor of the US edition of Vogue, in the face with a cream pie today in protest against her support for the use of animal fur by the fashion industry.

Wintour, dressed in a fur-trimmed black jacket, was hit in the face with a tofu cream pie as she left the Chloe fashion ready-to-wear show at the Tuileries Gardens in central Paris, members of the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said.

It was the second such attack this year on Wintour, an unapologetic fur supporter decried by animal rights groups as a "pelt pusher".

"Wintour is fur-bearing animals' worst enemy because her magazine continues to feature dozens of pags of pro-fur editorials and advertising each year," PETA campaigner Yvonne Taylor told Reuters by phone in Paris.

"She takes big glossy advertisements for fur and she refuses to run any anti-fur ads, even paid ones, so she's a big fur supporter," Taylor said.

Wintour was unavailable for comment on the incident.

ughh I think PETA should use a different approach to getting their message across..:innocent:

Exactly. Cream pies don't stop people from buying fur.
