Another Magazine Fall / Winter 2007 : Julianne Moore by Inez & Vinoodh

^ So late?
The issue is already on the shelves here.
I didn't buy it though.. wait til it becomes cheaper.

The spread with I&V is lovely, featuring Chloe Sevigny, Amber Tamblyn etc.
Also the Kasia ed is great too, featuring all the haute couture pieces.

^ I think you get certain foreign mags really early in HK? I've noticed Gold Star has scanned pics from British mags right after they're out in the UK, waaaaay before they get here (and I live in Europe).

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the Vanderperre ed, McDean's multi-girl, and the I&V spread...

^ Yeah HK does have their magazines early.
We've had Vogue US september before it was even in the states

^ That is pretty weird.

We get everything equally late, it seems, no matter where it's from. But I hope to find this next week, at least.

I saw it today, it costs as much as before... at least in Sweden. The editorials didn't seem too interesting, so I'm going to wait with buying it until I've seen more scans... AM has been my favorite for years now but I'm not feeling the new layout.

Another Look

Jefferson Hack redesigns his flagship title

Friday, August 31, 2007

(NEW YORK) Jefferson Hack has given Another Magazine a redesign. The spruced up format will debut on September 13 with the fall issue, which features Julianne Moore on the cover clad in a Dolce & Gabbana fur jacket and high-waisted Acne jeans. Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin photographed the actress, who's promoting Savage Grace, for the cover and inside feature, titled "America's Most Enigmatic Actress, a Legend Yet to be Defined." David James of David James Associates, who's served as art director of the spin-off bi-annual men's glossy Another Man when it launched in October 2005, has come on board the flagship book in the same capacity and spearheaded the magazine's first revamp. Hack remains publisher and editor in chief of both publications.

"The redesign aligns Another more specifically as a women's fashion magazine to sit alongside Another Man without a crossover of content," said a spokesman for James, who described the new title morph as "a decorative use of color and shape." The size of the issue will remain the same. "We design and art direct Another Man magazine already, working on both magazines makes it easier for the editorial and photographic/design direction for the two titles to be developed in a holistic, focused way." The headline typography is derived from the text typeface, and one basic skeleton format is carried throughout the entire magazine but applied in different ways.

The new issue, meanwhile, also features a David Sims-lensed story on the new wave of international performance musicians as well as a role-reversing portfolio where 13 actresses, including Rachel Weisz, Kathleen Turner, Thandie Newton, and Chloë Sevigny, style themselves for a fashion shoot.

To celebrate the magazine's redesign, not to mention his gorgeous covergirl, Hack will host his traditional dinner on September 9 at The Bowery Hotel.

Yeah the cost has gone up by quite a bit.
The editorials as you said aren't that interesting, but Julianna Moore's one is beautiful. I'm trying to understand why they would pick that cover shot, since all the editorial ones are a lot nicer.

Does anybody could scan Jessica Miller's editorial please? Thanks!

Jess Miller! I'm always suprised to see her getting work but she totally deserves it.

& The cover is great, very Inez & Vinoodh.

yeah, miller definitely came back with a vengeance when she realized 'what! carolyn murphy, angela lindvall and all those past girls where is my phone call??'

I do not like that typeface one bit. It ruins the entire effect for me. It seems so out of place. The old cover layout would have been much cleaner and presentable. The image itself is lovely though. Very Avedon.

I hate the cover.. they changed the layout. So old!
:(

I quite like the first of Kasia's ed. :flower: Thanks!

If the contents are good, I might pick this up.

I love Julianne Moore--she's an amazing actress, but to me she has never been a fashion icon.

Kinee looks simply amazing, like a retro Betty B cartoon character, that profile shot is brilliant I must add. I'm definitely getting this judging from the 30 pages content I got to see in a hurry, waiting for a bus that arrived a bit too early.

Not liking the new layout mainly because of the font that unbalances the whole cover and makes it a bit sloppy. There isn't practically anything you can focus on (picture manly which is perfection) because of the letters flying up and down.

oh my god.. willy.. I can't wait to see that at its entirity.. :crush:

I like the cover, but I'm not sure, there is something.....something wrong. The reference - it is also to some old Jean Shrimpton photo, by I think David Bailey.

I would LOVE to see the Hans Feurer editorial - so glad he's doing more fashion work.

I can't wait to get it! The cover is stunning and all the eds sound good.
