ok I guess I feel lost now..if you don't want to be sold a lifestyle, wasn't that the point of buying these mags in the first place...because you like their point of view..we first all loved Nylon for what they were selling us..now they are selling us crap..doesn't each mag represent its certain personality?
				
			
	
 A youth-oriented fashion magazine's role is to promote a certain aesthetic and culture, and a large part of it is based on selling or aiding to sell products; clothes, albums, movies, furniture, you name it. I don't have a problem with that, far from it. But I believe that there's a pushy and aggressive way to do it, and a fun, irreverent, yet respectful way to do it. In general, it's fine to commodify material objects, but not lifestyle choices. So a magazine that promotes not just fashion, but also home decor, travel ideas, relationship advice etc. is always treading a fine line between catering to its audiences' tastes, and pushing ideas down our throats. I really think that quality writing makes or breaks such a magazine. I hope that was clearer.
  I also ran across doingbird magazine recently and that seemed very interesting.  Apparently its australian, but it has a very European flavour to it.
