Arabian / Smokey eye Look

hi everyone. I'm new here... just found this site today :-)

Anywho, I have a step-by-step smokey eye application for you. It's a very basic smokey eye "how-to." The question on how to do smokey eyes always seems to pop up a lot everywhere, so I thought I'd make an easy how-to/step-by-step for everyone.

Can't wait to share ideas and get to know everyone!

I'm not sure if this picture is going to work when I load it, but here's a shot:

I think the smoky effect can be done with any color - isn't it all about the smudging techniques?
yep... it's all in the technique and application method. I also love blue smokey eyes.

My blue smokey eyes:

I don´t know how to upload images to send you also the smokey eye look that i learned in my makeup course...

Anyway, i don´t agree with adding frosty white to blend with black eyeshadow. There isn´t any need to it. You just have to start with a good correction of the skin, in this case, a good concealer to give yourself a good base to start with.

The rest has to do with technique and following some steps such as a lot of blending, with Q tips and a lot of mascara. The eyeshadow also has to be really black, Mac Black Tied is a good option as it has a bit of glitter added to the black.

The way i learned it is by doing the eyeshadow with a brush but with your eye opened so you ´ll know exactly where the moving part of the crease, the one that should be filled with strong black, then the smudging is done towards the rest of the crease. ;)

For a while I was using an indigo blue eyeshadow, but I dropped that compact into the toilet, so I am minus an indigo blue eyeshadow at the moment.
At least it wasn't your toothbrush :flower:

Everyone does it differently. That's what's fun about makeup. It's versatile, and there are no rules or no rights or wrongs. I posted the step-by-step instructions for those who are really beginning to learn how to apply makeup. It's one of the easiest ways to learn. By adding a frosty white, the smokey eye is not as harsh and is more blended. I also hand these instructions out to my clients at MAC and Estee Lauder, who are wanting to learn a basic smokey eye.

There are millions of ways to do a smokey eye, I just thought I'd post one of the easiest ways to learn. I'm glad your makeup class taught you a way you can achieve results for yourself :flower:

Is there any site on the internet that has any pictures on the black smoke eyes look? Sort of a tutorial...
Every time I try to do this kind of make up I always end up looking like a panda bear...
me too!!!!

Yep Jules, the great thing about make up is that there are no rules! ;)

Anyway, it´s just a matter of opinion, so for me, the black smokey eye is done only in black, it looks more fashion and extreme! ;)

it makes me look insane :(

great tutorials by the way...thank you! :woot:

Heres a darker smoky..
I find this one is a bit freaky. Too much purple on the lower lash line.

I have sort of greenish blue eyes... jade colored. SO I usually wear gold/bronze or black...

but I want to try a red violet look. Back when I thought raving was cool, I used to use fuschia lipliner, blue eyeliner and purple shadow to do a gradient effect. (going from fuschia to purple to darkest blue on the outside corner) with lots of mascara. It was amazing. but now I've no real place to wear that kind of stuff. maybe just around the house or something...

I want my eyes to look like this!!!!!!!

okay, I absolutley LOVE the smokey eyes look- but alas, im unable to achieve it on my own!! So i was wondering if anyone could help me-give me step by step instructions or tips on how to do it. The one thing i ask is that it DONOT look like p*rnstar smokey (e.g. Pamela Anderson.....). I was thinking something more like the way the olsen twins have theyre eyes, or maybe Catherine Zeta-Jones, rachel bilson & mandy moore- soft and sensual. One more thing- i tend to have oily skin around my eyes, and so eyeliner tends to run and look oily and gross on the inner and outter corner of my eyes. Is there anything i could use to help stop that? Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Thanx!!!!! :flower:

Below are some pics of what sort of smokey look im looking for:

i don't know much about the makeup itself, but i too suffer from oil around my eyes. I have tried everything and the only thing that works is MAC paints. I use bare canvas under my eyeshadow and it will last all day without creasing which is wonderful considering I need it to last all day. The trick with the paints is to let it completely dry before applying any eyeshadow. I usually like to wait about 10 to 20 minutes. Hope this helps!

I still haven't managed to perfect the smoky eye look. But there was a special of some sort on the Style channel one night . . . and this is what the lady taught me.

1) Do your eyeliner as you usually do it. Around your eyes, you know the drill.
2) I don't remember if she used liquid eyeliner or not, but I use a thin line when I do my "smoky eyes", so I suppose you could use whatever you like better.
3) Then you have to take a gray eyeshadow and pat it on. Powder works best. Start out with a little, and layer it on until you get the effect you like. If you put it all on at once, it'll most likely come off too strong. Use a little at a time.
4) Then just add the mascara.

Hope that helps . .
