Ashley Greene: From ‘Hot Mess’ to Style Star

Like most teenagers growing up,
Twilight star
Ashley Greene experimented with clothes and makeup, but don’t expect to find her on any best-dressed lists in her high school yearbook. “I think the worst thing looking back is old high school photos–just because I think everything was overdone. It just really wasn’t me,” said Greene,
brand ambassador for Avon-owned Mark beauty, at an event at the Glass House in N.Y.C. earlier this month. “I was just a hot mess!” Now a celebrated style star gracing the pages of glossies and ad campaigns, Greene describes her current look as “ever changing and evolving,” telling the audience, “I am a big jeans and T-shirt girl, but I like to dress it up with accessories and scarves, great boots, great bags just to accessorize it a little bit.” And while Greene, 23, loves to play with fashion, she is quite serious when it comes to empowering young women. “I want to use this platform to encourage young women to be self-confident,” explained Greene, who went for a natural look at Thursday’s event, except for her reddish-plum lipstick. “I have learned that whenever you finally embrace yourself, is when you are truly comfortable.” –
