Australian Street Style

Having read 11 pages of post, different people have different influences of style, I chose to focus on accessories and being bold, strong and minimalistic. I think alot of people look to europe for direction when it comes to fashion and style. Having come from Singapore a few years back, the minority arty are very distinctive and definetely very different when compared to the many street styles I see in Sydney today. While I never thought much of the Havaianas look, it is distinctively Aussie.

One thing I will agree with is that I wanna rip apart the next pink Supre bag thats clogging up the streets. Definetely worst style of the year.

i am also sick of the waves of ill fitting skinny jeans with metallic ballet flats. It's a freaking tsunami of slavish trend-followers here.

I love my scarves, just got another twilly from Hermes...its an addiction I cant stop.

I love skinny jeans.. i dont think i could ever go back.. i think i just look fat.. hahha

i think people that dont suit it are the ones that cant fit into skinny jeans..!

Went out to the markets to find a vintage bowling bag, ended up with 7 scarves and a tote, oh well one for each day of the week, its cold in sydney right now.

Well at the moment I living between Cairns and Bris... I don't mind Cairns - it's not really that stylish but it's fun and casual....

and its definately polluted with trend followers
bettina liano aces are everywhere as is anything tsubi

loving the other quirky designers such as alice mccall and lover but even they are becoming a bit mainstream

I'm so over Tsubi. I heard that they actually laugh about the fact that ppl pay so much for their (homeless looking IMO) jeans.

Jeans West is stocking limited edition jeans designed by Tsubi...at much cheaper prices! I'm not a fan of Tsubi...but for fans, this is a good op!

The last pic with the girl wearing that red waist belt, yuck. I hate it.

I really dont think waist belts go with just normal tops, the girls just look like trend whores.

yup. i so agree that bettinas and tsubis are everywhere.

i wanted to get me a pair of bettina lianos like 2+ years ago when they weren't as popular but i was broke at the time. glad i didnt buy them though. everyone has a pair now.

i love singapore designer hansel. lover-ly clothes. saw her work at the 2003 mercedes fashion week. glad some stores now stock her stuff.

I only heard about it because one of the sales reps was talking them up. I personally didn't like the ones I saw, but apparently they are getting different styles in.

And puff, I don't regret buying my Bettina jeans

I think the alba fan club is the label for the cheap version of tsubis?? I think! thats what i heard anyway..

I must admit i do love tsubi jeans.. but what are the alternatives? besides betina liano?

any suggestions@? i need a new pair that are not tsubi's.. LOL

Bardot has great jeans at the moment, nice washes, skinny leg, and I love the 'C' pattern on the pockets. There's gasp, grab, stevie b (but i hate them), jeans west has a couple of updated styles, sportsgirl carries jeans (i don't know what they're like), roy (the equivalent of bettina jeans but with buckles and straps etc)...there is plenty out there.
