All terrible? Haha so what do you think is good dressing for men? You're so very vague :flower: I was only generalising to emphasize that Melbourne men have a variety of styles, not necessary that those are styles I identity as well dressed. Irregardless I think there are many many Melbourne guys who dress fantastically!

to be less 'vague' here is an example of the kind of clothing i like seeing on guys...maybe the pants could be a little less tight. i think he looks very stylish [hel-looks]

i'm not saying EVERY guy in australia has bad dress sense or that there is no variety, just stating i think the VAST MAJORITY have pretty horrible dress sense. it lacks individual style. i think this is probably because there isn't a huge variety of labels available to guys over here + fashion isn't always a big priority to them (or they think because they are wearing labels like ralph lauren and tsubi, they're set and don't have to do anymore thinking!)

I'm going into Sydney tomorrow so I'll try and take some pictures myself so we can see what they really wear but please dont get excited as I can't promise anything. I disagree with the people that said Melbourne is more stylish than Sydney and that they don't wear skinny legs because they definately do. I think they are just more conservative and wear more black and are generally similar to Sydney style but then I guess that is a generalisation.

guys in tight pants/skinny jeans...

haha really? Every second guy is wearing them here in Melbourne!

I guess they can look really good when not overdone, or in primary colours...or soft pastels. So yeah, in black or a good indigo wash.

For those forumers who are not Australian, Supre is very much like our version of H&M, high turnover of very trend based fashion.

Supre is always the first of high street stores to be sporting a trend long before the other catch up. I buy lots of casual pieces like singlets and shorts that you just wouldn'e pay a lot of money for.

The pics you're seeing are mainstream fashion. Thought I'd post some fashion from a recent 'short-term club' that was set up over summer. I think its pretty indicative of Melbourne fashion outside the mainstream (hich is quickly becoming mainstream anyway! if that makes any sense at all... probably not...)

I just picked random pics....

Maybe i got it wrong what you said, but i definately DONT think Supre is the first of to be sporting new trends at all...!

HA I should post what the people at my college wear. Some of them wear the worst combinations of trends and some actually look good.

Agree, Supre is more of "I WANT TO LOOK LIKE A SKANK AND MY SKIRT IS ACTUALLY A BELT!"

^ hehehe..so true
no individuality in what they wear at all

I'm talking about high street stores, and I definitely think they are. Who would you suggest to be first in sporting the latest trends?

And it's not the clothes so much as how you wear them. A lot of labels can be skanky if put together that way....

Haha ^ classic!

okay lessavyfav, i understand now...

gasp can also be very skanky...and some of their salespeople are very rude!

ahh gasp.....
i haven't bought a pair of jeans from that store in years...whatever happened?

the tsubi's, bettina liano and sass & bide jeans..etc have taken over

I think in order to really appreciate Aussie fashion ( especially Melbourne ;) ) you'd have to go here yourself, sit in a cafe looking out to the streets, and watch people go by. Seriously.
The pics posted here only represent a small fragment of Aussie fashion!
And the teenybopper pics on post #133 :yuk:

^^ yeah I agree mlsnts...because also the fashion in melbourne varies depending on where you look (but I spose that's the same everywhere...) if you were in say Chapel street the types of clothes & styles you'd see would differ from say Brunswick street and the CBD could also be different again... so it really depends on where you go
