Austrian Designers

I know Peter Pilotto was trained in Antwerp, but isn't he Austrian and Petar Petrov studied in Vienna though he's Bulgarian? I'm going for the Ausrian fashion week in Sept for the 1st time and they're both showing there. But I guess Petrov's reshowing the meswear collection, which presented already in Paris last July...

zamb,I wouldn't stereotype all Austrians as how you described. Take a look at the beginning and you will see there is more interesting things there.

As for Avant Garde-seems rather a narrow generalisation to me...because if you take alot of pieces away you'll find most are highly wearable. Street-a-Licious,since you live in Wein, have you ever checked out Park? Markus Strasser(ex-Antwerp student) who owns the shop, sell's most every one of the designer's on the beginning pages. You should check it out...you might be rather surprised.

no problem!

i moved to Vienna 2 weeks ago, so i'll probably be discovering more designers soon ;)

lucky you, i love the new austrian fashion scene

Oh wow! Those are great indeed! They're like medievel helmets.

Have to agree with Lena here...I am really loving the energy coming from Austria! And I have to admit that I am quite happy it's moving beyond the slick aesthetics of Helmut Lang and the irony of W&J and Fabrics Interseason. Seems like alot of them now are becoming alot more romantic...almost fantastical.

oh it's been a while! High time to post again!

House of the very island's royal club division klassenkampf Middlesex but the question is, where are you now? ... behind this long name are Markus Hausleitner, Martin Sulzbacher und Jakob Knebl.

I think I mentioned Anna Aichinger before, but here are a few pictures of her latest collection "High Heels, High Morals".

thanks for sharing Astrid! Awareness and consciousness has really beautiful knits!

most of the "designs" posted look just really weird, but not in a good sense. it lacks sophistication as i know it from paris or new york or milan. I've shopped designer stores like park or sterngasse 4 in vienna, but a lot of these clothes by austrian designers are just not wearable and look rather frumpy, which i guess is their point anyways...its like they are experimenting without a real concept behind it, including the fabrics which were rather disappointing.
marios schwab, however, is in my opinion the only real exception, his collections are wearable and nice. but then again, he studied in london, as far as i know, and most of his time he didn't even live in austria. he just happens to have family there....
