I touch this topic with some trepidation...
not to inflame this at all, just for clarification on the term "ghetto" in the United States.

"Ghetto-Fabulous" for our friends who do know, is style/fashion that takes the fun or better elements of so-called ghetto living...and it refers to clothing, attitude, a certain saunter...for example? It has a more positive tone when used in North American culture.

"Ghetto" on the other hand has a negative tone, and is judgemental in its usage.

Example:
"That girl is so ghetto". Not so nice.
"That girl is ghetto-fabulous". Nicer. in other words she's using that style in a positive way.

By the way...people who use the adjective ghetto, are usually referring to something linked to Black-ness, however linguistically incorrect that may be. However if you were to hear "Trailer-park" used as a description -- its the same thing as ghetto -- the two terms seem to be reserved for specific United States cultures.

I prefer never to use either expression.
Now I will return back to FASHION talk.
