British rocker PETE DOHERTY has been jailed for 14 weeks for breaching the terms of his probation.
The Babyshambles star, whose drug use and legal woes have been well documented, has been a frequent court visitor in London in recent months, despite public promises in 2007 he would clean up
his act after a spell in rehab.
Doherty's manager Adrian Hunter insists there were many reasons for his incarceration on Tuesday (08Apr08), including the fact the singer/songwriter was often late for probation hearings.
As a result of the sentence, handed him in West London Magistrates Court, Doherty's show at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 April (08) has been postponed, and his appearance at the Love Music Hate Racism benefit on 27 April (08) has been scrapped.
As WENN went to press, it was not known whether Doherty's planned appearance at the Glastonbury Festival would go ahead.
yeah well done Pete i was supposed to go to all of the now cancelled gigs...thank god i got the tickets for free cos if i already paid for that i would be pretty pissed now
