Balenciaga F/W 09.10 Paris

is it just me who finds it hideous????
reminds me of clothes worn in the 80's which you see in photos 10 years later and think: WTF was I thinking wearing something like this...

I soooooooo agree with you!!!! Also he did the same shoulder cut as current Balmain jackets, I've enough shoulders.....no more!

hmm, i don´t know... i like, that nicolas changed her futuristic taste, some pieces are quite elegant and much more feminine than last season´s collection, very wearable ... but some of them are boring or what - like i´ve seen it so many times before... i think it misses more originality

The shoulders in the first image of the last post....really....it makes her look like a bison ox - and this is a miraculously slender person. On the other hand, the last outfit is really very nice.

My grandma would love to wear all these prints! But I still love it

I like the first half of the collection more! Love the combination of fabrics and those drapery dresses.

some of this is absolutely gorgeous, like the draped silk skirts and pants...
but i don't like those patterns paired with the strong shoulders.. too 80s for me, some of the prints are really great though.

it's definitely not my favorite balenciaga collection but it is gorgeous non-the-less.. :)

it's just very ordinary....apart from the ugly draping around the waist, there is nothing which is unique or forward-thinking....even the prints are ordinary, are less than.....Almost all of the shows in London beat this hands down.....

Uhmmm... I'm confused.. especially with those satin pants..

Definitely different from what I've expected.
First three looks are great, both tops and skirts, I don't like draped pants and colorful prints much, but b/w/gray prints look good and shoes too.

Like many people already said, not his best collection, but there still are quite a few nice pieces!

Strange, the prints reminds ISSA with a bit o Cavalli or even Gucci.

very ordinary indeed

I missed that one, it's the 4th to last look.

I didn't like it too much at first. But as I posted I started to enjoy it more. It looks very wearer friendly, I could imagine women of different shapes wearing a lot of the pieces and looking good in them.

I accept that every Balenciaga collection doesn't have to be robot inspired or that any designer should stick to a single motif. I also accept that one designer doesn't need to have any conginuity from one season's collection to the next, (like earth tones at Burberry or Leopard print at Cavalli) but it has to be said that this isn't Balenciaga at all, it's not even YSL. It's a poor interpretation if that's what he was going for. I think with Nicholas's mind he could have produced a better response to the recession. Does anyone remember the very lacey romantic SS06 collection? That was very drapey/feminine and not robotic, but still Balenciaga.

I don't really know what I think about this at the moment...

I'm disappointed I thought it would be a lot darker and not looking to the past again.

I do like the obi belts though , there have been quite a few of those all over.

Ok I take it back... Really disappointed. I totally agree with commentary about this being no where near the same level as previous Balenciaga shows, lacks any originality, there was promise in the first few looks, but unless there is something we're not aware about, like the way light reflected clothes last season, then this is a major let down, god paris isn't looking to promising :s
