Balenciaga F/W 2016.17 Paris

OH MY GOD!!!
I knew there will be some comments like these but not the whole thread!!! Alexander Wang's was better? Are you kidding me? Because of him Balenciaga needs to make just some wearable and desirable clothes because they lost a lot of money because of him! Remember how cool Balenciaga was when Nicolas was there? And what it was when Wang did this brand? Nothing! Very forgetable clothes, total copy past.
Demna is cool. But he is not only try-hard man who can be inspired by stripper clothes for example :judge: He is smart and talented designer. Dont forget who he was before Vetements and with whom he worked.

This collection is not perfect. There is no big WOW effect. But its good. I need to say its the best debut after Nicolas in LV. Strong vision from the first season.
I think floral dresses part was horrible. Its really ugly. I dont like mix of classy evening dresses and matchy boots. Because if you hide boots dresses look good. I dont like that show was not good directed. I love when its story on the runway but it was like a store in motion - sporty jackets part, coat part etc
I really like that Demna played with Balenciaga forms very accurate because of this I cant wait to see what will be next. Some affair. There are a lot of good wearable pieces - costumes, skirts were amazing, cool classic coats, good bags.
Vetements too much? Guys I dont know why you say this but Marc Jacobs collection and LV collections always were similiar. Wang and Balenciaga were similiar. Even Loewe and Anderson have something in common. I guess its part of the contract that collections need to be a little bit similiar. And its pretty logic because when you hire creative director you hire his vision and style.
So my opinion that Balenciaga again is intresting player among LV, Prada, Loewe, Gucci and Saint Laurent.

Check the facts, when Alex Wang was designing the sales of the house were actually doing really good. I believe even better then when NG was at the helm. Not a fan of his Balenciaga, but he did really well sales wise.

+4,6%, yeah. Not 25% how Saint Laurent has but fact is.
But its because it was his very first collection, it was hype. Remember how Dior sales were higher after Galliano quit or last Frida's collection for Gucci? Which went on huge sale.
And they added some stores around the world. Im sure sales were good not because of WANG vision or work.
And what I wanted to say. Imagine how great if after Nicolas was strong designer? Sales would be better for sure. They lost 2 years for nothing. It didnt made any pluses for their future.

yes, i do remember Wang did pretty well for the sales throughout his tenure there, whether i like his designs or not doesnt matter.
That"s why I think more of Wang being sacked, it is more of him not wanting to do it anymore, this could also be corporate talk to save their faces, so maybe someone can ascertain this?

Kind of difficult to wear indeed, but I liked the show. He played with layers so I'm sure some pieces seen alone look great and wearable.

i was really shocked when i was watching the video show last night! i only had in my mind words like, what's this? joke? really?... this is not Balenciaga, c'mon guy! really awful, disgraceful.

screencaps from the show

I just rewatched it and it's still not working. So unflattering, bulky. Those shoulders lines, hips. I mean when Margiela or CDG creates those shapes it works. Here it's just awkward and very arrogant...

Did you see the video of this show? I've re-seen the collection, in Images and in video ,i did it also with Vetements, i want to understand why somuch people are liking this, the press seems to love Vetements and Balenciaga... but it is another story...
I've seen the video after your posting, on video it looks more worse. I've seen 2 shows, first Balenciaga F/W 16 and second Margiela by John Galliano F/W 16 -of course John Galliano is John Galliano, for me he is genial- the both collections have similar colours, something similar, maybe Demna is influenced by Martin Margiela's design, who knows, anyway, how perfect looks the John's Margiela and how horrible looks the Gvasalia's Balenciaga. The good cast in Balenciaga case could make it all looks better.

I don't know if somebody posted the video yet.
I'll try to post both, Balenciaga and Maison Margiela.

Hope, you can watch the Videos? I can't , in this case i have some Problem with video player.

@Fatalefashion , your Videos are super!

I think the cast at Balenciaga was a big problem... there was no real diversity. It's the same Vetements girls plus a few celebs like Julia. What's the point ? But yes, this collection is poor and not very generous in ideas. And when you see the archives of Cristobal, you feel like this show is a big joke...

Yes, and in my opinion it is unprofessional to let walk the Vetements girls for Balenciaga.
The show is a bad joke, and it seems-the point-that he got the inspirations from Martin Margiela and ex-soviet era instead study the Cristobal's archives... I want see what will be offered for spring 2017.

This "dress" sells for...4 000 euros....viscose and overlocked finishings included.

^
We actually have this at my work and I will say it's most impressive in person, given how crazy it is as a style itself but it's put together very nicely

The Prices are expensive but it is Balenciaga, so same as another brands. But 4 000 euro for viscose dress is too expensive, if i will buy a quirky dress my choice will be silk and organza from Gucci.

An unlined dress made of viscose crepe, on top of that... Plus, I don't really see what makes this garment particularly complex to construct - It's not bias-cut, there is no elaborate demicouture technique involved, it's just an oversized tee-shape with ruched collar and flounces on the hem. I don't even dare to compare what you would have gotten from Nicolas at that price, back in the days...

The back shots are such a delight to look at  Thanks so much for posting!

I actually have an oversized tote I never use, that I'll use starting tomorrow! I think I never used it because it seemed to get heavier.. gravity, force etc you know.
As I would usually put books and celery, carrots in it x)

Ok so I went to the Balenciaga store today to check the dress and I am still not convinced. It looks like 5 different cheap second-hand dresses stitched together quickly... disgusting print, terrible finishing, basic fabrics. There is definitively no luxury or magic in this poor piece. Looks like the work of a fashion student in his first year of study doing the task " use old ugly garments to make a new one".

And it's overpriced. Céline or Loewe (aka ultimate luxry imo) don't charge that much for their dresses...

Surprisingly, this collection looks very good in editorials.
