Balenciaga: This Is Unbelievable...

i think the dress is well-made and successfullyu communicatesa concept.. i like it.. i just think that sort of pricetag should onlly be for ballgowns and such with excessive amounts of fabric.

Wowza this is an old post, but I must say that is total bs for that dress----but if one can afford it, why not?:innocent:

does some of you already seen someone wearing Balenciaga???
I mean we often see editors wearing it, MKA Olsen got pair of shoes... but an outfit... a real outfit on a real person?????
Do Balenciaga does sales press???

If you work for Gucci group you get 50% off all group merchandise - including Balenciaga!

Ugly and ridiculous. Balenciaga is more and more disappointing. Just good enough for the women at Vogue. But nothing more...

I see the occassional wool duffel with metal toggles popping up here and there, being worn by some really committed fashion followers in Paris. But except from that, I have hardly seen people wearing the clothes, especially those from the main collection. Unlike the inevitable handbags!

Apart from Editorials and pics of Charlotte Gainsbourg - I only ever see people wearing bits of Balenciaga at fashion shows, and the like not really out and about.. I know that the capsule line pieces which are priced modestly do sell pretty well - however there have been some disasters in the past with fit - and the quality of these pieces is pretty dire.
I feel that with Balenciaga people are paying for the designer vision - the hype around the design and the designer. I don't believe the quality is all that and people who purchase similarly priced pieces will be aware that the quality isn't as high as some other high end clothing.

You're right Grill, except for charlotte---his muse---and I must say she looks smashing. I would wear it if I could afford it, but I can't so I won't. As for quality and fitting which are 2 completely different topics one can only imagine some designers have no talent for such things.

well..saddly...but like alot of these high end designer brands, the clothes are there to sell the house's accessories...like bags mostly.
and the more clothes used in editorials, the more exposure the house gets and the more people will buy their bags and such.
of course...who can ignore the high price tag and the hard to pull off looks. it's ridiculous

hot pants are 525
$525 for 3 inches of fabric??????
Oh my.

I just don't get how they can jack up those prices. Even for a high amount of handwork, realistically I don't know how that can add up to 15K. I guess they do what they want..... :\

The robot shoes from the Fall 07 collection are approx. $4,000 US !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open-toe sandal, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, $4,175

^^^ I wouldn't be suprised if they literally meant $4175 for one open toe sandal - the pair costing cover $8000  :innocent:
