The high waist on some pieces is a nice change from the usually extra low rise in these collections. Also the slouchy trousers feel different. But by and large, very Balmain-ish.
Aside from the power-shoulders, this feels a lot softer than Decarnin's Balmain, it could just be the styling but the Balmain woman now feels more relaxed; as if she genuinely doesn't give a damn, instead of trying not to give a damn.
There is absolutely nothing different since Olivier took over. I know it's his first RTW collection, but I was expecting something different, not the same thing Christophe would have done.
I think it's a nice, relaxed collection with very nice pieces. I actually like it more than I usually do. Cool and luxurious at the same time. I could even say I like Balmain (but their ridiculous overpricing makes it hard to like it).
I've never been a true follower of Balmain. Like during every fashion week I just pop my head in here and see what they show. But this collections seems more polished. I personally think that some of those pieces actually reflect those outrageous price points. Am I a fan? I am not sure. Those gold jackets are intriguing but I agree that this should have been a different step instead of doing the same thing
I quite like it... I feel like this is what Balmain has always wanted to look like. Does it look like a Decarnin collection? Yes, but toned down a couple notches and with higher quality materials. Heck, it almost even looks like it might be worth that crazy heavy price tag for once!
