Bathrooms - user friendly colour schemes

What is in your opinion the most user friendly colour scheme for the barhrooms. By that, I am mainly referring to both floor and wall tiles.

Ideally, I would want an all-white bathroom, but due to maintanance reasons I would opt for a darker floor colour like grafite. Would still have white wall tiles though. And both floor and wall tiles would be those big tiles and not the conventional size ones.

How about you? What coulours would you want your dream bathroom to be?

Maybe blue-ish? I would like to have kind of traditional Japanese-themed bathroom.

I've noticed that the darker the tiles are, the more cleaner and more new they look.

I would not want brown or yellow-ish colour in my tiles.

Not at all! I would probably take them even more darker. The idea of dark tiles does sound a little bit odd, but in reality it looks very elegant. My friend has a "mosaic"-style black tiles in her bathroom floor, and the bathroom looks more upscale than it is in reality. The tiles also always look clean, and that helps with keeping your bathroom clean (or at least looking like it is clean).

I find it if they are too dark (as in black) they show water stains which in turn makes them not so easy to maintain.

I like dark tiles in bathrooms! They look great and as sweet n simple said, they need cleaning less often.. grey or dark blue tiles are also quite nice.

I have dark teal tiles on my bathroom floor, and there are recessed lights in the walls installed about five inches off the floor. Of course, there are other lights in the room, but it's really nice at night to have only the blue floor lit. It's not only beautiful, but I'm not blinded by needless overhead light!

I remade a smaller bathroom recently:

Walls: large (ca 30x60 cm) cream white matte horisontal tiles, fitted like brick. Clear white what-you-call-it in the gaps between tiles. All outward corners just what-you-call-it, no shiny corner-tiles or other crap the builders had planned using.

Floor: 10x10 black semi-matte tiles, fitted in square pattern (nice and simple) with light grey what-you-call-it.

Bathtub front: a large oak board which is easily changed (I could still go back to plan one and use a board with glass mosaic in turcoise or bright red when I, or rather the apt owner, want to).

White goods: all in white, hehe.

Crome faucets and other such details, but kept to a minimum.

Some oak shelves.

Light: spotlights centered in one fixture in middle of ceiling, adjustable directions and light strength. Horribly white flourecent light above huge vertical mirror for make-up purposes.

Turned out lovely and I was sad to let it go.

I hate my bathroom, this apt is probably from back in the 70's so I have disgustingly yellowed up white tiles and counters, that I have tried to bleach for the past year.

I wish for dark matte graphite tiles, minimal lacquered wood "floating" counters, stainless steel faucets and detailing, and this gorgeous lit up thick framed mirror
