Battle of the Supermodel Baby Bumps: Candice Swanepoel vs. Behati Prinsloo

How do two Victoria’s Secret Angels show off their simultaneously growing baby bumps? When it comes to supermodel pregnancies, don’t expect the standard blurry ultrasound or typical hip-jut-in-pajamas pose. Case in point: the Instagrams of the with-child stars of summer 2016, Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo, who have taken the baby bump duel to editorial-worthy levels. The women announced their pregnancies the same week in March, and both are due around the same time in September. And ever since their initial reveals, the friends have been taking turns sharing twinning photos on their respective feeds, each playfully attempting to outdo the other.
First, there were the barely there lounge-about looks, in which each model shared shots of her slightly growing, bikini-clad belly. A variation on the pose was the maternal take on the “hot dog legs” snapshot, which gave each orblike tummy a full-focus view with an ocean or poolside backdrop. (Bonus points go here to Prinsloo, who added a touch of whimsy by decorating her photo with a slew of cheeky emojis.)
Then there have been the full-body shots, accessorized with a hand or two cradling the tummy. We’ve seen the no-fail “style the bump” looks, in which tousled waves and impeccable skin have been paired with pretty summer frocks, and the goddess images, painterly portraits of each model set against backdrops of otherworldly sunsets.
Finally, both have shared late-in-gestation-period photos—one of which Prinsloo Instagrammed just yesterday, in a skimpy swimsuit. Her caption, “34 weeks,” suggests that the next image to expect just might be one of an actual newborn—and that picture will be worth a thousand words. Or, perhaps, a million likes.
