Behati Prinsloo

I'm really proud of her showcard. It makes her look edgy and diverse- away from the commercialised "pink" image

If she was offered an impressive contract to model clothes for the ghetto superstar population, I've no doubt in my mind she'd accept. Pink doesn't necessarily fit her personal style but when you're modeling that's the least of your concerns. You're not modeling the clothes you'd wear so it doesn't really matter if it's her style or not. They're paying her to sell the material and make it look fab, not to take it home and make it part of her personal wardrobe. That's just my take!

Exactly. Can you imagine if she only did runway shows or editorials that fit her personal style instead of ones that would further her career? Yikes :ninja:.

Aww, I like those cute little bra shots. Thanks for posting them, papa_levante :flower:.

okay, okay, i meant commercial v high fashion, not alexander wang v tory burch. i guess it's just that i can't understand someone leaving/prioritzing high fashion, which is where the model would be working with real artists imo, to/under commercial work, where one is working with products that are made to be liked. for money.
i guess it's the age-old argument that happens everytime vs swoops down and contracts another high fashion model. whatever.

VS is one of the most lucrative accounts for a model to obtain. High fashion can only last for so long, but VS models are older, more established (well, usually, except for Miranda Kerr and Selita Ebanks.)

I think she's SMART for taking it. Not a lot of models have the opportunity. She's thinking of her future, not about where brands/products rank in the fashion kingdom.

Who says she left it? For the last two seasons -- at least for runway -- Behati scored less and less blue chip shows and possible reasons for it came up in the weight thread. In an article an industry person reportedly made a negative remark towards her on that subject. She was hardly an editorial queen. The biggest HF campaign I think she ever scored was Missoni seasons ago. She never had a cosmetics, jewelry or fragrance gig.

I assumed her VS Pink contract was a prudent move in the face of her middling prospects, esp. in comparison to other girls who got hot around the same time as her. Her fabulous streak in NYC for S/S 09 is a happy surprise for me but a surprise nonetheless; and there's no guarantee it will be replicated in Paris (the city where she really began to disappear despite the Chanel FW 08/09 casting). Your criticism would make more sense if someone like Natasha Poly dumped her gazillion HF campaigns a season in order to stroll around and blow kisses in the fantasy bra. Given the "choice" between being able to live in a decent place in a foreign country vs. starving in order to be photoshopped by Mert & Marcus and other "artists", I'd pick the former.

kurt vonnegut ---I know what you meant, and I see your point as well. When I think Victoria Secret "PINK", the last model I would picture (until a while ago) was/is Behati. I'm pleasently surprised by how well she actually fits the brand

IT WAS a lot of dead things that drew London's beautiful people to the Browns menswear store on South Molton Street during London Fashion Week - dead bugs, to be precise - as model and artist Jamie Strachan's Entomythology collaboration with jewellery designer Philippa Holland launched to a crowd that included Simon Le Bon, Lara Bohnic, Olivia Inge, Lisa Butcher and most of London's modelling elite.
"I'm so proud of Jamie," said Strachan's model girlfriend (in more ways than one), Behati Prinsloo. "I love the collection. It's for men, but I wear the scorpion pendant."

Any sign of Behati in Paris yet? I know she was/is going to be there but I thought she'd be seen at Marant and no such luck!

They make a very nice looking couple, they look a bit alike too... I don't mean in a weird way.
They just look really cute together.
