Best Self-Tanners

Definitely, I haven´t made those mistakes since I was like 16. it´s all about knowing which ones to use and how to put it on I guess.

I've just started using Dove summer glow...for normal-dark skin. There is also a light to normal skin i think. It's basically got a low amount of tanning pigment (or whatever its called) in it... and requires being put on in 5 consecutive days to create a 'healthy looking tan'. This is ideal for me...as it's not really dark straight away...and you can notice any slight mishaps the day after...and just miss that patch the next day you put your tan on....
it's about 3.50-4.99 in british pounds for a bottle...but it's on offer in boots at the moment 2 for 5pound. It's worth trying it if you're not to be trusted with normal self tan...

Johnson's Holiday Body Lotion is amazing! It is sooo even and comes in a moisturiser but after 2-3 applications you look noticable browner! And it's cheap and doesn't have an awful smell!

I'm going to be in Atlanta in a week and a half for about a week, and then following that I will be in Florida for a few days.

So....I've got to get through this pale, northerner white skin before I go.

I have used the Aveda Sun Source.......which the color works great, but the smell is awful and very strong. My fiancee actually won't let me wear it to bed anymore.

I've tried another drug store brand..........a build a tan one........can't recall the name, but again the smell was not so great. But not as bad as the Aveda one.

Ive used the older one from Chanel, and it was too dark for me.

Sooooooo.........last night I got the medium Jergens one. I used it last night, and the smell is okay. Probably better than anything I've used. I noticed a slight change in my coloring this morning......it acutally looks really good. I think instead of using it everyday, I'm going to do every other day, so it will build slowly and look more natural.

I need to get the one for the face though. Putting anything on my face makes me nervous, since Im so senstive. I tend to mix it with my facial moisturizer and tehn apply, so it's a bit diluted when it hits my face.

I just tried St. Tropez since it's so highly acclaimed.. I was so surprised that the color is actually a muddy, olive brown! I know the color will turn out natural looking, and I'm wondering why so many self-tanners are a golden orange color...it doesn't really make as much sense. Having applied it like 30 mins ago, it already looks naturally glowing, and I can seriously say my skin looks like it does during the summer! :D

^ ahh I want to try it!! I'm pale skin and have never experienced getting a natural dark brown tan. I'd like to just look naturally sun kissed!

Tanning Body Moisturiser

I thinking of starting to use tanning body lotion, and I was just wondering if the tan it gives is as permamant as sun-tan or sun-bed tan....or that kind of body lotions works as make up.

Okay...the Jergens one is crap.

It did give me a bit of color....kind of natural...but not enough to have made a real difference.

ok, i wanna look dark, sunkissed and lovely. I want to have that color adriana lima has in the summer, but right now i look like Live Tyler with a SLIGHT tan. anywhoo. I dont want to spend alot of money on a self tanner that just wont work and ill never use again. So can anyone tell me if theyres a good drugstore brand for selfless tanner, or a good "build a tan" lotion to use before i buy the expensive one so my tan wont seem like i sprayed it on the night before?

God i bable so much, hope yall can understand me!!

Did you use it daily? I like it because it gives me a hint of color, little by little.

The Jergen's Natural Glow worked REALLY quickly for me. Once a day for 2-3 days made a big difference.

Hmmmm.........yeah...I used it every day for over a week.

Maybe I need to go up to the next color level??? I think I got the Light/Medium one.

About the tanning body lotions - after how many days the tan washes of...if been using it... lets say 7 days in a row...(body lotions like Dove 'summer glow', or Johnson's 'holiday body')
And I'm still wondering how it works ...like make up tan or like proper sun-tan or sun-bed tan?
Please share Your experience.

the tanning body lotions work just like a normal self tan, they just have a lower concentration of the self-tan ingredient, so it's harder to mess up

i liked the idea of a buildup self tanner, i've got really fair skin and prefer it not to be immediately obvious when i've faked a tan, so i bought johnson's holiday skin, but found after a couple of applications i went quite orange. luckily it's quite a subtle self-tan, so i was only a subtle orange....

other than that i LOVE fake bake and st tropez, i think both give about the same colour, but fake bake is slightly darker. i use the mousse version of both because it dries the quickest so less likely so strek off, don't use too much, and keep on rubbing it in after it looks like its all rubbed in (if that makes sense) and that way i never streak.

also, does anyone know the difference between the normal fake bake mousee (brown bottle) and the fake bake beyond bronze mousse (lilac bottle)?

For those who have used St. Tropez, how do you apply it? Mine is the foam, and it seems like everytime it touches something (for example, like a drop of it) it won't come off! It's like a stain, almost..so I normally put a lotion underneath before I apply it, then I use a folded paper towel to rub it on. haha, any personal testimonies?

i just spread it all over the palms of my hands before applying, then make sure i really really rub in in. i know what you mean though, if you mess up and get a drop where you don't want it, rub moisturiser over the top and that usually sorts it out.
oh, and i'd recomment gloves, i never use them, but then have to wash my hands about 3million times to fully wash it off

I remember buying this right when it came out. Now they have it available in three shades... according to skin tone... I bought the fair one for body and face, and have applied it twice and have seen a difference. A good one.
