Best Self-Tanners

so does that mean they only last until you dont get wet?

That was pretty much my experience of them.

I just read on Makeupalley.com that the L'Oreal Sunless Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer was pretty good.

It was the only reviewed tanner that got a 100% and most of the people gave it a top rating, and ALL of them said they'd buy it again.

I think I might give that one a try. Thanks so much!

I think with the Mystic Tans, you really need to do it rather frequently in order to build up a good color, and then just keep doing it to maintain your color.

The thing is, that by finding a great self tanner you can do this at home for a fraction of the cost.

I've just had better luck with the store bought self tanners ya know???

oh im hella dissapointed! i apply that jergens lotion religiously at least once a day, sometimes twice (after morining shower and evening shower) and ive seen no deepening of the color in 2 days! man! should i go up a shade? im afraid to do that, im usually pale, and i dont wanna go looking like paris hilton, cheeto -girl..well, ill keep giving it a try, and the smell is irritating me, i fel like my hands smell like dirty socks! ill...

I'm about to try a self tanner and I'm wondering what I can do in case I mess up and it turns out streaky. For example can I exfoliate or anything? I once heard that using lemon juice will get it off if you make a mistake. Is that true?

Thanks in advance!! :flower:

For anyone whose used the L'Oreal Sublime Glow...........how well does the color stay?

I dont care for the shimmer, so Im wondering if I use it at night, and then shower in the morning, will I still have some color??

Some people are DHA resistant.

Some people need a stronger product. That's why I use react. It's super strong, but I am not DHA resistant. Also, something being super strong is in itself something tricky as you have to be very careful about mistakes because they are extra noticable and last a long time;).

In theory, you should, or at least after it has developed. It takes about 24 hours for my stuff to totally develop.

Unless you are resistant to the tanning ingredients, your tan should last about a week after application. The stuff that initially rinses off is a color guide that is mostly used so you know where the tanning stuff is because the chemical that actually tans you is clear. It's also used so you feel like you have an immediate tan in some cases. I would stick to the non-clear products until you get a feel for where you have to be extra cautious in application.

I just tried Loreal Sublime Glow and it is really good! I have never, ever used a drugstore brand of self tanner b/c I thought it would look bad. But, I am really happy with this product! It goes on very smoothly and evenly and doesn't smell too bad. The color is nice too, it's not so light that you can't see it.

Also, someone mentioned Scott Barnes Body Bing. It is AWESOME! It's expensive though - $50 -- but worth it. It is body makeup/bronzer and not a self tanner. There are two kinds, the original (for darker skin) that is in a black bottle and the Platinum Body Bling (for lighter skin), which is in a silver bottle. I will apply self tanner and then use the Body Bling the next day (or for a night out on the town) for some extra sparkle and to boost my tan. Victoria's Secret sells it and so does Sephora & Saks.

About the mystic tans -- I have gotten them at different places, and it honestly just depends on who/where I get it how dark or even it is. There are different levels of darkness that you can ask for. Some I have gotten and you could barely tell anything after the bronzer washed off the next day. Some I have gotten and I was a little too dark! It should last about 4-5 days and then it starts to flake off as your skin does. It is awesome but expensive to get done every week (like Hollywood celebs do).

Is it from the Jergens lotion?

I just tried the victoria secret self tanner.... it's okay but not wow. The colour is.... well not bronze but atleast it gave me some colour hahahaha

can you try using two products at the same time? or switch off every other day?

I use two products. At first I used Loreal Sublime Glow until I reached the color that I wanted, so like 3 days in a row. And after that, I just use the Jergens one every other day. But if i feel like my tan is fading or i want to be darker, i just replace a day or two of using the jergens and use the sublime glow.

But i've always wondered why so many companies make their bottles a bright orange? Because although the sublime glow is great, i was really hesitant to buy it just because it was orange, and it subcontiously gave the message that i would turn orange. haha, i don't know :innocent:
