Bibhu Mohapatra S/S 2014 New York

Bibhu Mohapatra cited modern dance as a key influence in his spring collection, using delicate pleating techniques to reflect graceful motion and large florals to inject the lineup with cheerful spring color.

The strongest looks combined softness with a blush-and-black floral print, shown on a slim ponte day dress with a cutout neckline, and a sweeping pleated chiffon gown with a sheer illusion bodice.

Known primarily for his polished day dresses and eveningwear, Mohapatra also demonstrated a way with daytime separates. A pair of fluid ponte trousers with an inverted fuchsia pleat down the side were sporty, elegant and modern.
