Blake Lively (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

I'm not surprised her career has taken a turn for the worse. GG was not popular by the end of its run. I don't think many people watched the final season and Blake's movies tend to be flops. So, it's not any wonder she doesn't have much a career anymore. If she's smart then she'll work the PR circuit for a while to garner interest in her again otherwise, I don't think we'll be seeing much of her work for a long while.

I always thought that without GG several of the actors would fade away, but I never thought Blake would be one of them... What blind items were you referring to?
There are a few blinds out there that suggest Ryan is a very possessive and jealous partner who essentially doesn't want Blake to have a career, and is encouraging her to focus on being a good wife to him instead of being an actress. The blinds say the reason she's fading is because her new husband is doing everything he can to make her fade.

I think those blind items are really silly...only my two cents of course, but I don't think her lack of projects has anything to do with her husband. Maybe she simply hasn't found the right role or she enjoys being only a wife for now...:flower:

She's not new anymore so people aren't taking chances on her. She's had five years since Gossip Girl to prove she has actual talent and hasn't delivered. Meanwhile, in the same timespan, there are actresses like Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Lizzie Olsen, etc. that are delivering amazing performances in leading roles. Why take a chance on Blake when you have a proven actress?

And although Gossip Girl restricted her schedule, that didn't stop Shailene Woodley from getting an Oscar nomination last year and landing the lead in a new YA franchise. I'd argue that Shailene had even more hurdles because she was on a show that didn't even give her fashion exposure the way Gossip Girl did for Blake.

You have got to be kidding!? GG ended not even ended one year ago, and she just got married and her career epitaph is already written? One minute she has the paps on speed dial, now her career is over. Totally hilarious.

I do not know why she is not acting at the moment to be honest - whether it is her wish to be a good stay-at-home-wife, enjoy her new freedom, not wanting to act or if it is the fact that nobody is hiring her and she gets no jobs. I do not know but I am astonished that she stopped working after GG finished - she does not run any risk of becoming the next Julia Roberts or Meryl Streep so she will never be stressed out by her work schedule and honestly around her age she would probably be well advised to show some acting skills - but then maybe she is imagining herself as simply Mrs. Reynolds, which is not the worst thing that could happen à la Jennifer Garner as Mrs. Affleck! Guess, it depends on what you aim for!

GG's end date has nothing to do with it. Blake hasn't had a project lined up since she was fired from The Bitter Pill/Side Effects in January 2012. She has nothing in pre-production, nothing in development. She is attached to literally nothing. That is very strange for a working actress, especially one who was so buzzed and hyped about (some would say undeservedly so).

In Jennifer Garner's defense she's given birth to three kids within a seven year span so I guess being a full time mother would affect her career. As for Blake, I really don't know what's going on. Most of Blake's movies were flops and she's not that great of an actress.

Wow, I didn't realized she was replaced by Rooney Mara in Side Effects. I couldn't imagine Blake in that role. Good thing she struck the iron while it was hot and married Ryan. Wasn't she Anna Wintour's fashion darling for a while?

Shailene Woodley got a Golden Globe nomination, not an Oscar nomination..

Maybe she wants to be a stay at home wife? And I don't think her lack of projects has anything to do with talent. I mean, if people like Lily Collins and Julianne Hough are getting work....why can't she?

She was great in Savages and will in whatever is next for her, she's gorgeous and all indication points that she's also very kind and sweet. I'm routing for her 100%.

Ohh well I meant before she became a mum she did not have a great career either and switched from first husband being "just" a series-actor (a guy who was on Felicity ;) ) to movie-actor Ben Affleck similar to what Blake did a bit when breaking up with that Dan-guy from GG and marrying Ryan Reynolds and as I remember Jennifer was a series star before trying to do movies in "Alias"...anyway, we will see if she will be a mum sooner than a movie-star or whatever she will do...it seems like she does not try too hard at the moment and accepts her dolce fa niente which is not too difficult considering she is young, happily married, rich and living in New York getting tons of free goodies from fashion houses and being able to live a life many can only dream of!

She was great in Savages...

I thought so too, and the first minute of the film is in my personal hall of fame! ;) Believe it or not, I most miss her style, no matter if it was on the red carpet or as Serena (sigh)... Looking back on the magazines from a year or two ago, she was well on her way to being a fashion force, but that too seems to be lost now...:(

There's very little of her anywhere; fewer appearances, fewer magazine covers, etc. Even if she can't land roles she could have done those things in the meantime, so I do think her exile is self-willed. Even so, it is very easy for young actresses to be discarded, especially if their physical image is their main attribute.

If I think someone is overhyped and overexposed, I'm more than happy to let them disappear.

She doesn't appear to be as fame hungry as some people have made her out to be. After finishing her first movie, she took a year off to finish school instead of chasing more work. After Gossip Girl hit, she didn't take every teen movie or advert offer that came down the pike. She had to be talked into doing Green Lantern. She has long mentioned the other things she wants to do besides acting (most of them involving decorating and food ;) ).

The blind items -- or blind item, since it's the same one repeated - comes from an unreliable site that admits it makes things up in its disclaimer. She talked about taking some time off after Gossip Girl finally ended before Ryan. She auditioned for Side Effects while she was with Ryan.

It appeared she won the role in SE, but another actress wanted it and the finance person wanted the other actress. It happens all the time, but in this case it was made public because one of the producer's had been giving info to an indie film site (they were also first to report that Soderbergh couldn't find financing for a previous project and had moved on to Side Effects.)

It's difficult for any actor to make the transition from TV to film, especially when they're so closely identified with their TV character. I don't see people beating down the doors to hire any of the Gossip Girl cast. Gossip Girl made them famous but it's not the kind of fame that is going to help an actor get the best roles (and 5+ years of filming 10 months a year is not your normal TV series.)

She made the most of the hand she was dealt. She looked for quality projects to work on outside of GG instead of taking the easy way out. She racked up some good scenes for her portfolio in both indie films like Pippa Lee, Hick, Elvis and Anabelle and bigger movies like The Town and Savages (she received good critical notices for all, btw.) If she wanted to have something lined up, I'm sure she could. Lesser actresses and lesser names are working as we speak. She's picky about how she spends her time and isn't a slave to the entertainment business. Good for her.

Jennifer date actor Michael Vartan in between breaking up with her first husband and marrying her second one and Blake dated Leo after Penn and before she married Ryan. I think Jennifer did have a slightly better film career than Blake has so far.

Blake Lively and her hubby Ryan Reynolds take her little pup Penny for an early morning walk on Saturday (February 9) in Sudbury, Canada.
Later in the day, the 25-year-old actress and the 36-year-old actor went to the movies to catch an afternoon matinee together.
Earlier in the weekend, Ryan and his new co-star Scott Speedman braved the cold and snowy weather while filming scenes for their upcoming movie Queen of the Night.

Just looking from the pictures I feel cold - it must be really cold in Sudbury atm...and her skin seems to suffer from a break-out...I always thought she had great , unproblematic skin! I like the boots...they look interesting
