Just looking from the pictures I feel cold - it must be really cold in Sudbury atm...and her skin seems to suffer from a break-out...I always thought she had great , unproblematic skin! I like the boots...they look interesting

It's very cold in Sudbury, most of northern Ontario is pretty cold... but the Canada Goose coat she is wearing is amazingly warm, I love mine You could go outside in -20 C weather and be cozy in their coats.

All this talk about Blake doing nothing and hurting her career is making me laugh, cuz there is an interview linked in this topic, not even that old, from 3-5 months back where she was asked about her future career directions post-GG and she specifically said she was taking time off to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. She mentions she's determining if she still wants to act or go in other directions, like open a restaurant. (Our memories can not be that short term!)

Penn is the only cast member that has other projects lined up (which he has got due the good buzz for 'Greetings for Tim Buckley.') Ed doesn't (and he also hasn't been spotted much since the show ended). Leighton is focusing on her music at the moment but being very low-key about it. (Does anybody still care about Chace? ) All the cast members mentioned in interviews being burnt out by the show, and all seemed sort of bitter about how it ended. So maybe they are all lying low on the advice of their agents? The show didn't exactly end with critical acclaim. The whole season was long mocking by the critics To my knowledge, it's one of the most critically ridiculed shows and low-ratings final season busts in recent memory. It's bad enough when it happens to movie actors, but far worse to TV actors. So maybe they're just waiting for the storm to blow over before doing something new.

blake was mentioned in the new issue of vanity fair in a story about meghan ellison (a hollywood producer) does anyone know why blake dropped out of side effects?


The dismissal of etiquette in a town regulated by its own version of it has also gotten Ellison into sticky situations. Last year, she agreed to finance Side Effects, a psychological thriller that will be director Steven Soderbergh’s penultimate movie before retirement, for $23 million. The deal was announced with a press release, and Ellison was making offers in writing to actors. But while she was at Sundance, according to a source, she learned that representatives for Blake Lively—Soderbergh had cast her in a showcase part as the female lead—were requesting a higher fee. Ellison hit the roof and pulled the financing 12 weeks before the film was to begin shooting, though she did “give the production cash flow until they made another deal,” her spokesperson says.
Things got worse from there: Lively’s representatives pulled her out of the film, and Rooney Mara was quickly cast. (vanityfair.com)

Interesting. Could be Ellison wanted to be involved in choosing the cast? Can't be because of Blake's sub-par acting, for Pete's sake Channing Tatum, aka tater tots, is in it.

People in the industry like Channing though as he has a reputation of being one hardest workers and nicest guys. He was also brilliant in 21 Jump Street, before I saw him in that I didn't think much of him at all. And besides Megan is funding his next movie so clearly she has no issue with him.

I felt really sorry for Blake when this happened but if she lost the role because she wanted more money it is her own fault

I went to see Magic Mike because of Channing. He's charming and funny, and is not embarrassed of his stripper past. That said, he's no Brando, and like Blake, can hold his own. If Blake lost the part due to money demands, she needs to chill. She hasn't eraned those stripes yet.

I read that article the other night and found it interesting that they said she pulled out. That's not the story that Lainey reported at the time -

Steven Soderbergh announced a new project called Side Effects, about a woman who gets caught up in a love triangle between her newly-paroled husband and her doctor (she’s an addict). Blake Lively was chosen as the lead. Open Road Pictures came on to distribute but they needed a financing partner. Enter Annapurna Pictures and Megan Ellison, armed with daddy’s dollars. But just a week later, Annapurna dropped out and it emerged that Ellison objected to Lively’s casting and she left the project—dollars in tow—when Soderbergh wouldn’t ditch Lively.

Megan Ellison, the producer from Annapurna Pictures who withdrew funding over Lively’s presence in the film. She came onto the project after Lively was tapped for it. She knew Lively was on board and Ellison got involved anyway and only then objected to the casting.

I don't know which story to believe now. But one thing is for sure Blake needs a new acting project fast. Otherwise she will just end up like Kate Bosworth - a clotheshorse.

After seeing Side Effects, I honestly can't picture Blake Lively in that role. Rooney Mara was the perfect casting. She gave it the perfect edge.
I don't think it would have been as convincing with Blake in the role. Rooney was just brilliant at portraying the depression of the character and she fit with the other actors/actresses really well.
Whatever happened, it was a smart move.

But Blake still has that movie with Eddie Redmayne and Chloe Moretz coming out, right? I don't think it's been released yet.

^ it was in limited release last year and already out on DVD in the States. I don't think it did very well but I've read that it's not that bad.

^It's called Hick and it really wasn't that good. She has a not very good southern accent - mostly because it's southern mixed with her mumble and you can't really understand her - and I just really didn't care for the overall story. Not worth the money imo.

Hick has a 5% rating on RottenTomatoes lol, that's abysmal. I don't know much about it but I remember there were a lot of not-so-nice things being said about it when it was screened at TIFF.

"Money demands." Sure. Because Blake and her agent were totally unawares of the budget. Because she didn't really want to work with Soderbergh. Because it's all about the money for her, as evidenced by her other career choices. /end sarcasm

Soderbergh couldn't find financing for an earlier project so he moved on to Side Effects. He wanted to do one last film before he retired at the end of the year (fed up with the financiers running the show was one reason he gave for his early retirement, ironically.) Indie Wire was the source of that info, and they were also the first to report the cast for Side Effects and that Ellison would be financing. Rumors of Ellison bailing started the day after the casting news broke (before Sundance, iirc). I don't buy Lainey's version of events (it's always about "girl sh-t" with Lainey, because "girl sh-t" is good for gossip), but Ellison's latest version of events rings even less true.

Hick came out early last year. It was a little independent film with controversial subject matter that was bound to turn off some reviewers sight unseen. Doesn't seem like the type of fare an actor expects to gain great money of fame from. The film got bad reviews, but Blake received several good notices from the (very few) major papers that reviewed it.

She said last year that she would be taking time off to travel and decide what she wants to do. She's fulfilling her Gucci contract, but it's not like she's photographed every week showing us what she's wearing.

So speaking of fashion, as we seem to not be- she hasn't been showing up at the usual red carpet/party events at all recently; I wonder why? I mean, even if she isn't sure about her career goals, she could still stay a part of the fashion crowd, couldn't she?
