The awards function had a different feel altogether this time. Generally, I've had to wait till the end to receive the Best Actress trophy. But this time I was handed my trophy midway through the function. It felt strange. It was a different high this time. The first time I won the Best Actress trophy for Raja Hindustani, it was exhilarating. I'd watched top actresses receive the trophy as a child and I'd wanted to win the trophy ever since. The Critics' Award has added a new dimension to me as an actress. Now I've won awards in all the categories--Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Critics' Best Actress. Zubeidaa was a special film.[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] I grew as an actress and as a person while doing the film. The thought that someone had actually lived this life and probably spoken those lines of dialogue gave me goose pimples. It was the toughest role of my career. I was overwhelmed that I'd been chosen for the movie. When I went to Shyam Benegal, I shed all my commercial cinema baggage. I left everything that I'd done behind me. I simply followed the director's cues. I guess I was lucky to have done Zubeidaa. It's not the kind of film you get every day. A lot of actresses wanted to do the movie. They made nasty comments. A case of sour grapes. [/FONT]
