Books and their homes....

BCXSY’s See-Saw Bookshelf :P

Every book tells its own story. Every book has its own weight. By playing with balance, the See-Saw bookshelf visualizes the breadth of our home libraries.
Is Kafka truly heavier than the latest issue of Vogue?..

I love the random, sloppy, vintage, worn bookshelf look the most. The precise geometric modern ones don't appeal as much.

I love this threat. books and homes. Great Combination. ANd I'm in love with #32 pics.

When I get to have my own house someday, I would definitely be considering the Shelving system by Massimo Mariani for Targa Italia. :D

Oh this thread is heaven! I am a book lover, but I also love interior design and have always been somewhat obsessed with having everything in my room look visually appealing. :innocent: ^_^

As of now, I only have a simple, boring bookcase, which also happens to be old, cheap and ugly, and I'm running out of room with it anyway, so I've been looking for creative ways to store/display all my books...this thread has really given me some inspiration!

Here's some more...:flower:

Pictures are from weburbanist.com, freshome.com, and readymade.com

There are so many I found at the following links, so I'm only posting my favorites, but be sure to visit here or here to see more shelves, and read details about the shelves shown, and also here and here to get instructions on how to recycle stuff you already have to build two of the bookshelves I've attached pictures of.

Here's a list of cool bookshelves, most of them have already been posted here, but here they are anyway:

I've always loved all the books in Dan's room on "Gossip Girl", especially that built-in shelf on the brick wall...would love a built in shelf over my bed like that. ^_^ I also like how he (or really, the set designers, since Dan is sadly fictional, after all) has books piled around on almost every surface. I love seeing books just stacked up everywhere, I like them neatly organized, but at times I think they look just as interesting in messy, haphazard stacks and rows, like here:

^ YES! I was focused on the wall shelf on a recent episode, I love it. I hadn't even noticed the piles of books everywhere -- I agree, very well done by the set designers, very real life.

Great thread. I am in the process of turning one of my rooms into a Library/Study if I can ever finally decide on the book cases.
