Books and their homes....

^ thanks! i'm glad u liked! it's such an ingenious use of space.

just a tip: i was at my local library and i noticed the librarians doing this, they would push the smaller sized books forward to make them all even in the front. so i went home and tried it, and it makes it look so much better. do other ppl know about this?

Yup, I do that sometimes  I try not to be too AR about it

^ that room is too rigid for my tastes....nothing cosy or inviting about it....although i do love those 2 chairs on the left  and i'm sure with the fireplace in the winter it is much cosier....

I like the idea of wood paneling in a library ... I notice that one has very few actual books tho. I love the way floor to ceiling books look, but I find that I hate to have books out of reach. A 6 foot bookcase works pretty well for me ...

 oh i didn't know that was a special technique lol
sometimes i put small books in between big ones too because it just stands up better.. so there isn't all that tension if you put them all at the front

i just love the books stacked on the bedside table...i always love this...even though it's so impractical and collects way too much dust which drives me mad...

Ah, such great pictures adorefaith. I really like the third one.
The last one is nice too, I want to have floor to ceiling bookshelves when I have my own house one day.

The Selfshelf is a shelf with the appearance of a book. Invisibly attached to the wall with the included bracket, it can support a maximum weight of 4 kg. The effect is amazing, your stack of books seems to be mysteriously floating in the air. On the front of the cover features the text "Ceci n'est pas un livre".

My new favorite library, from none other than the Master of the Universe himself, Karl Lagerfeld.

I think it's in his house because the skylight looks familiar, but it might be at the 7L bookshop?

Pictures from the Misshapes blog.
Link stolen from here.

^i think it's his studio, indeed ...
but i wonder how his photos are so boring with such a source of inspiration .................
i may go totaly absolutely crazy if i had the chance to go there once .....

oh I love it. book bricks... and it's funny, just earlier I was reading a book on shops in Berlin, and one of them mentioned Lagerfeld's custom.. it made me pause for thought.

oh gosh i am so impressed with Karl!

no one can ever accuse him of being ignorant!
