Boy Beauty from MAC

i agree.. i'm not sure what the point is.. esp. since it's all in the regular line anyways....(except the malted tlc stick..i think, and the bronzing...)
but i guess they're just reiterating that they've got stuff for everyone...?
hah i dunno.

i grabbed the quad..only because i love quads and i was gonna buy three of those 4 e/s anyways, so why not?

Ya, it's the same stuff. I guess the branding it takes away the stigma of womens cosmetics, although there is no difference! Not in the packaging, or the names...

I want that blot powder, also that quad and those pigments look like fun...

The nearest Pro store to me is on Fifth Avenue  Hopefully the store in Tysons will have the blot powder, that's all I want, I want the pressed b/c I think the loose will give me too much of a "processed" look...opinions?

The blot powder was the only thing that looked intriguing to me as well.

I think if anything the reality would be the opposite ... I believe the pressed (which I use, just because I hate the way loose powder flies around when I'm working with it) has additional ingredients to help it stay "caked," so theoretically anyway, you'd be better off with the loose. But in reality, there may be no difference ... :innocent:

I know, strikes me as odd too, because any guy who has the balls to wear makeup doesn't need it packaged esp for him, esp not under the label "pretty boy"

So Diorling, you want the guy packaging? Just curious as to why ... just because it's new and different? Hey, all you guys should send me your empty containers if you don't wear lipstick

I like the "natural" face with nude lips and clean brow. It's kinda like the face I slad on everyday. Not so sure about the pigment though....
I can say that I will definitly buy.

Well, the MAC site said it would give you a velvety look, I dont really want the upholstered look. I guess there's one way to find out, I have to try it on. Ya, Ive never worked with loose powder though it does seem like a challenge to operate.

I was thinking that too, let's be honest, *probably* anyone wearing this is gay! I dont think he'll mind the fact that his color is called "orgasm."

I mean, I wouldn't mind them humoring us, but actually I guess the packing is pretty masculine, all black (or white) clean lines...But all the other Special Editions have different colored packaging at the least, or is this apart of the mainline?

Hey! I worked hard for those 6 containers...Ill take the lipgloss they give me, then return it for store credit at Nordstrom...:P

the loose blot powders are jet milled, so they're super fine. it does give a velvety finish to the face, but that's a good thing. you'd rather have velvety than powdery.. right??

Wait, loose blot powder? I dunno, sounds messy. I like a solid compact much better.

^ I use the pressed and I definitely get a powdery look from it *at first* ... but my skin is so oily that it doesn't last long. For invisibility I bet the loose is better, but you def want to put it on before you get dressed so it doesn't fly all over what you're wearing. MAC makes a good powder brush ...

"Pretty boy" def doesn't seem targeted to the metrosexual crowd, or even anyone older who doesn't consider himself a boy anymore ... Maybe the metrosexual guys just buy the main line?? (I don't know, someone speak and enlighten us :P)

I'm not the total MAC collector/expert, but I remember the Catherine Deneuve compacts had this harlequin design (which I didn't care for--the edges were that fake metallic plastic ... the whole thing reminded me of cheap 50s Christmas ornaments :innocent: )

Btw, Nordstrom often marks the free lipsticks so you can't do that. Since all my lipsticks are MAC, I have to look at the labels at least once a day, and I can't tell you how I hate it that they deface them :ninja: But you could probably find a Lustre shade that you would like ...

what you want to do with the loose powders is to really get the powder into the brush so that it isn't messy. so you work the brush into the lid (where it has some powder on there) so that the powder is mostly inside of the brush and not just on the tips and you buff the brush onto your face.

and if you ever feel like your face looks powdery, we have a product called Fix + which is alight hyrdrator for the skin. when you spray it on your face, it helps set down the powder so that it looks more natural. your makeup sets down through out the day because your natural oils soak up the powder, so the fix + soaks up the powder right away.

what my macys counter has started doing is writing B2M on the labels on the box so that we don't write on the label. hopefully, more counters start doing it so that it doesn't mess up the actual container.

if you're not a fan of lipsticks, there are different textures. there are mattes, satins, amplified creams, frosts, glaze, and lustres. the lustres are a glossy sheer lipstick. so that's a good one to try out if you don't like lipsticks or you don't want an actual gloss.

^ At Nordstrom for whatever reason they take the free lipstick out of the box. They are so fabulous in almost every other respect, it just really gets my goat that they do this. I guess I need to be careful to get my freebies elsewhere ...

Are you guys saying you can also get a free gloss, not just lipstick?

Maybe Pretty Boy is targeted towards the gay male who thinks makeup is too feminine? Or, conversely, lesbians...

Lizzy, Im writing all this down. I dont want a gloss, it's so...unnatural, I wouldn't mind a tint or a sheen...a lustre if you will

That's why I chose Nordstrom! They're pushovers. Nordstrom is like that friend that will let you do whatever you want to them, just as long as you stay friends with them.

i just B2M'd for the first time, at a macys counter, and they didn't give me the box for my l/s, either, and also defaced the label, with a big X in blue ball point pen :( made me so sad...but i guess it's the product inside that counts (it's what i tell myself hah..)

Now be nice to Nordie's ... I'm not sure I've ever had to use their liberal return policy. They have such good karma that everything works out. Only at Dillards where they are such jerks does anything ever go wrong. Even the MAC people there are totally stingy and Scroogy when something goes wrong :ninja: I'm very very careful of what I buy there, having had so many bad experiences. I can't let go of Carol who mixes my Prescriptives Custom Blend, or I would never darken their door again :innocent:

I don't think they do it at the MAC store ... maybe I need to start asking ahead of time what they're going to do to it ... it seems to depend on the individual person who helps you, it's inconsistent what happens ...

they mark them because people try to return them. it's a free lipstick, so when it's marked they can tell the managers that it's b2m.
they take the box also because you're supposed to have a return label on the box to have a proof of purchase.

fashionista - you only get a lipstick for b2m. i meant that if you don't like gloss, you can get a glossy type of lipstick. and vice versa if you don't like matte lipsticks.

here's the breakdown for lipstick textures:
LIPSTICK FINISHES

AMPLIFIED CRÈME
Ultra-creamy. Quietly shiny. Colour-packed! Hi-res: hi-impact.

FROST
Excellent colour payoff with medium to high frosted shimmer-and-shine finish.

GLAZE
Low-colour impact with sheen-style finish. Glazes the lips, makes them shine!

LIP TREATMENT
Colour-free. Texture-free. Provides natural healthy-looking lips.

LUSTRE
Demi-sheer with wet-look lustre finish. Very slick. Makes lips look soft, smooth, ultra-moist.

MATTE
Pigment rich with intense colour pay-off. No-shine, all matte finish.

SATIN
Colour-rich. Soft satin, semi-matte finish. Conditions while adding intense colour.

anyone know how is the model in that photo? He remind me of a korean actor lee jun ki

make up is for chicks.... a man doesn't need to paint his face.. hes a man..
no lumber jack beards though
