The Red Carpet Highlights of... The 82nd Annual Venice Film Festival 2025!
Boyd Holbrook, Nate Parter, Scoot McNairy, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver and Elyas M'Barek attend the Variety Performers Brunch during the 20th Hamptons International Film Festival at Nick & Toni on October 7, 2012 in East Hampton, New York. Boyd Holbrook suits up for a feature in the latest issue of Glow magazine.
Here’s what the 31-year-old actor had to share:
On writing poetry and working behind the scenes: “The poetry thing was just kind of a one off book that never saw the light of day. I have a project that I’m developing with killer films that I will be directing actually back in Appalachia titles Uncle Sam. I got into drama school due to the fact I wanted to know how to direct actors. Projects take a long time. I don’t see myself making more than a few if that.”
On his favorite places to visit: “Berlin is a city that is just all over the ball. But I’d have to say the shore on the Antarctica looking out over the water.”
On what he likes to do when he isn’t working: “Fire. Most hike. A dog named lucky. And silence.”
vogue.itThe renowned photographer Albert Watson was chosen to shoot the Spring Summer 2013 ad campaign for Trussardi.
A sleek campaign starring Hollywood actor Boyd Holbrook and the Scottish musician and actress Amber Anderson but one that has not a well-define setting so as to bring the creations to the front.
A skilful play of light and shadow creates the perfect atmosphere and bring the images to life: timeless portrayals with a contemporary twist. The creative director is Gaia Trussardi while Alex Wiederin and Robert Rabensteiner are, respectively, in charge of the artistic side and the styling.
bullettmedia.com‘The Host’ Star Boyd Holbrook Is Poised for a Breakout Year
by Jason Lamphier
In 2001, Boyd Holbrook was building theater sets in his native Kentucky when a friend snapped his photo and sent it to a modeling agency. Within a year he was on catwalks in Milan and Paris, and soon after landed campaigns for Hugo Boss, Moschino, and Jean Paul Gaultier. But acting and writing, he says, were always his passions. “As a teenager, I didn’t even know there was art school—that’s how deep and hidden in Appalachia I was,” says Holbrook, who between runway shows and photo shoots studied acting at New York University’s William Esper Studio and audited screenwriting classes at Columbia University. “I did copious amounts of reading once I was given the opportunity, discovering people like Sam Shepard and Edward Albee.”
A decade later, his voracious appetite for American drama has paid off. After scoring roles on Showtime’s The Big C and the Emmy-winning miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, he’ll next appear with Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons in the sci-fi flick The Host. Also on the horizon: his lead in Very Good Girls, opposite Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen; the part of one of Liberace’s boy toys in Steven Soderbergh’s Behind the Candelabra; a plum role with Natalie Portman in a still-untitled Terrence Malick movie; Scott Cooper’s Rust Belt thriller Out of the Furnace, starring Christian Bale; and a spot in the comedy The Skeleton Twins, in which he plays an Australian scuba instructor and “backdoor man” to Kristen Wiig’s character. He’s also set to direct Uncle Sam, a film he wrote. “It’s about two guys working in a coalfield in Appalachia who are headed off to boot camp,” Holbrook says. “A lot of crazy **** happens before they get there.”
All-Time High: “Have you ever eaten five peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, had three glasses of milk, and passed out in the sun? That’s what it’s like working with Kristen Wiig.”
thewrap.com'The Host' Star Boyd Holbrook Joins 'Jane Got a Gun,' Firms Up 'Little Accidents'
Boyd Holbrook, who starred in "The Host" and "Hatfields & McCoys," has joined the cast of Gavin O'Connor's much-discussed Western "Jane Got a Gun," which was recently acquired by Relativity Media and the Weinstein Co. Additionally, Holbrook has firmed up his commitment to the indie drama "Little Accidents," in which he'll star opposite Elizabeth Banks.
Holbrook will play the lone survivor of a tragic accident that kills 12 men in a small mining town. Banks will play a woman whose son goes missing in the accident and seeks comfort and companionship from Holbrook's character.
The lead role in "Little Accidents" may have extra poignancy for Holbrook, whose father operated a bulldozer in a coal mine for 30 years.
In "Jane Got a Gun," Holbrook will play Ewan McGregor's younger brother. McGregor plays an outlaw who clashes with star Natalie Portman and her husband, played by Joel Edgerton.
Holbrook is an up-and-coming actor who has quickly amassed a long list of noteworthy projects. He recently starred opposite Saoirse Ronan in Open Road's adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" and in Steven Soderbergh's HBO telepic "Behind the Candelabra." He has also wrapped an untitled Terrence Malick project with Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender and Rooney Mara, as well as Scott Cooper's "Out of the Furnace" with Bale and "Skeleton Twins" with Kristen Wiig.
Holbrook next stars alongside Liam Neeson in Scott Frank's Universal picture "A Walk Among the Tombstones," as well as the Sundance movie "Very Good Girls" with Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen. He's represented by CAA and manager Cathy Kanner.
“Little Accidents,” which Sarah Colangelo adapted and directed from her own Sundance-winning short film of the same name, explores the effect of coal mining on small communities. It was announced this morning to premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in the out-of-competition Premieres category, and we’ve got the first photos of Boyd Holbrook, Elizabeth Banks and young “Mud” star Jacob Lofland in the film.
Set in the aftermath of a tragic mining accident which claimed the lives of 12 miners, the film follows three intersecting stories, that of the sole survivor of the accident (Holbrook), a mother who lost a son (Banks) and a 14 year old boy with secrets of his own (Lofland). This one sounds like it could be quite gripping, led by an underrated but very talented cast, so add this to our highly anticipated list.
Sundance 2014 kicks off on January 16, 2014. The first photos from “Little Accidents” featuring the three leads can be seen below.
