I've just bought a pair of roman-type leather sandals, i love them however they are sooo stiff! They squeak so much when i walk that i haven't worn them out of the house yet. I have tried rubbing vegetable oil into them, has helped a little but not much- any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Tips for me too, please. I have thought that the only way is to suffer

wear them in loud places??

with other shoes, like heels, i say wear the heel padding insert or something. my feet hate me, so when i wear new shoes they kill my feet.

sit there for hours and bend them back and forth with your hands?

i finally got my black Helmut Christian Louboutins! the only problem is that they are the most painful things EVER! being that there is not much shoe, is there a way to make them less painful? they are slightly big as well. it does not help that they are about a 4 inch heel. eek! PLEASE HELP!

(they are the black heels that Kirsten Dunst is forever photographed in)

hi! they hurt mainly around the pointed area of the shoe. so ALL of my toes are in agony. the high heel puts alot of pressure on the top half of my feet (the part right under the toes --bottom of foot) ...still shuddering from new year's eve memories of drinking the pain away.

I've had these yellow pointed shoes for a while now, and the pain doesn't go away with the more I wear them -> so I suffer

A crude but effective way of shaping too-tight shoes to your feet is to wear them over wet socks. Too-loose shoes? No hope, that I know of - sorry!

i think if you really started wearing them a lot, they should fall into place.
maybe wear them at home?
that's the only thing that came to mind :flower:

I have been, they're even too noisy at home! I like the suggestion of wearing them to noisy places!

If they hurt because they are too big and your foot is being pushed too far forward, you could try putting some padding under the ball of your foot. It will help prevent your foot from slipping too far or you can go to the shoe repair and they can do it for you and put it neatly underneath the insole of the shoe. A lot of times you can get the toe box of the shoe slightly stretched to not smush your toes, but I'm not sure if they'd be able to do that since the shoes aren't leather and have that clear part.

If you have a good shoe repair person, I'd talk to them.

thank you, thank you! i'll start with the padding. i know the shoes you're speaking of -- but my shoes are all leather, no clear plastic part. :flower: :D

I'm used to wearing Birkenstocks, but I recently got some flats and sandals in an effort to step up my look.

Problem is, they're making my feet blister. They're not too big nor too small, but it's just where they rub against certain points (bottom of toes, achilles tendon).

Anyone have a method for breaking in shoes?

IMO this is the best thing to do

just drench them in water. let soak for a bit and then put them on!!
they will be like butter ;)

^ Really? That won't damage the leather? Interesting... Do you do that with your gorgeous shoes, Leyla? (I've seen you post some of them in other threads)

i do that with my leather flats or with shoes that are really stiff leather.. it didnt ruin mine. i mean non treated (sort of) leather...

I wear shoes around the house when I want to break them in--including just sitting around (albeit for long periods of time). Leather gets more supple just having your feet in the shoe, regardless if you're walking. Plus it doesn't end in blisters like walking in brand new shoes can.
