CielDelit, thank you for your post, I have found it very amusing.

You seem to have an all access pass to my brain or the gift of omniscience, since you can state with authority what you "know everything she said way better than [me]". That's a very impressive skill.

I don't have your talent but I have read all your posts, and I have found your arguments weak. My own post wasn't an attempt to teach you anything, but merely an opinion backed with hard facts.
Personally, I always find it hilarious when people try to use the 'taken out of context' argument when trying to defend horrible comments. First of all, I am aware of the context of all these quotes because I've read the books and letters they are from (so I know for a fact that I have not misrepresented her), and secondly, I for the life of me cannot imagine a context where any of these statements would be acceptable.

Lastly, you wonder why I am here? The answer is in the last sentence of my post (you must have read it, since you quoted part of it). You seem a big fan of Brigitte, so you should be happy that even people who are completely repulsed by her personal opinions can still appreciate her beauty and style, otherwise there wouldn't be many visitors and contributor to this thread. :flower:

You're easily amused but hey, happy to help!

You seem a big fan of Brigitte, so you should be happy that even people who are completely repulsed by her personal opinions can still appreciate her beauty and style, otherwise there wouldn't be many visitors and contributor to this thread.

In all honesty I couldn't care less if there are many contributors or not, I have thousands of pictures of Brigitte and I participate to other forums solely dedicated to her so this thread is just a plus, I don't find many new pictures here, I come just because I'm happy to share pics and news. Besides you really underestimate the amount of people who genuinely appreciate her personality, let alone those who share some or all of her views :flower:

thanks! she wore kerchiefs really well. I was actually reading an article from an old "Life" magazine and she started this trend too ! It says "One of Paris' biggest stores is selling 8,000 Bardot kerchiefs a month and 3,500 gingham dresses like the one Bardot wore at her wedding. You can't buy a yard of checkered gingham in Paris not even for kitchen curtains since Brigitte picked this fabric."

Thank you Karen Sofie for you scans and also Ice Lady ;)!

[*] ON PEOPLE WITH MIXED-RACE HERITAGE: 'une tare'. A genetic defect.[/LIST]

If she said all those things she can honestly go and f**k herself.

Ive read a couple of books about her. And as much as I love her, sometimes I feel as if she never grew up. She had her beauty to rely on most of her life. And now that, that has faded... well the cracks are showing.

Thanks Alicia753 I love her 70s style ^_^!

I love those candid/family pictures they're so sweet :

^Aaaww!!I love the way she is sitting on the swing, you could always tell she was a ballerina!!!! Thanks for posting it.

You're welcome girls :D !

M.Dietrich : indeed her ballerina past clearly shows on the picture! It really permanently influenced the way she walks, her posture, even decades after. But that's understandable since she started at such an early age, at least two hours per day during many years.

more childhood pics ^_^, click to enlarge

^ Aw I hadn't seen most of those pictures before! Thank you for all the pictures, and again I personally really enjoyed reading all your posts about Brigitte. :)

Btw, I know the "genetic defect" comment looks very offensive, but I know someone who is kindhearted, not racist, and considers mixed race people the most beautiful people out there, but one time she actually said she wonders if they have genetic defects. I love this woman and consider her family. Some people just honestly don't know better but aren't being malicious.

And before anyone says I'm pathetic for defending her, I have zero prejudice. I have nothing against Muslims (have a lot Muslim family actually), have no problems with interracial marriages (have dated outside my race), and am actually really passionate about gay rights (to the point where I've made a family member uncomfortable). I just know that most people aren't perfect, and a lot of older people do not think the same way as those of my generation. I refuse to think that a ton of people of a whole generation are despicable, but I guess some people have only ever encountered people who are either evil or are perfect and never have a bad word to say about anyone or anything? To me, there's no point to not be racist/homophobic if you are still full of hate for someone who's done nothing to you or anyone else (as far as my knowledge). Btw, this post isn't directed to any one person.

Thanks Underage, unfortunately I can't give you karma yet but the intention is there  I totally agree with you, couldn't have said it better. Also I forgot to point out that "tare" was not exactly well translated, it means "defect" not necessarily "genetical defect", there is a slight difference. I won't argue all over again about that, just saying.
On the whole, I think people have to read about her more, not just a few lines on internet taken out of their context to make their own opinion. I have and I'm honestly perfectly at peace with myself, unlike some people on this topic who feel bad about liking her. I like Brigitte inside out, anyway I simply wouldn't be able to like someone evil and vile, and I wholeheartedly assert it. Obviously some people don't or are shocked but I can understand it too.
Now that everyone has said what was on their mind can we please move on ? :flower: I'm personally not going to change my mind anyway, and neither are the others probably.

thanks :woot: I love Serge too, especially in the 1960s actually. Seriously he made amazing songs for BB, have you seen the Special Bardot for new year 1968 with the videoclips ? I love it ^_^ the songs, the styling, it was so original I don't think there were many TV programs like that.
I saw it on TV but I can't find it on internet, except some excerpts like the credits, with her awesome photoshoot with Sam Levin.

Also I wanted to share this video, this is so freakin cute, it's a short video of a 5 year old Brigitte in August 1939, needless to say it was extremely rare to have a personal camera at the time !

Aw Brigitte is so blessed to have video footage of her at that age! So cute.
