UK Vogue December 2024 : SZA by Nadine Ijewere

They're still doing those stupid image descriptions? lmao

It's the best cover they've had since Edward's departure, in my opinion. Fairly bland and unimpressive, but she looks really good.

Is this designed to be one of those seasonless stories that'll be reprinted elsewhere over the next few months, or has Christmas become a problematic construct that you can't reference on a cover?

It's not even one of those double-month issues that has to tide readers over until the New Year.

I don't mind the cover shot, but I'd describe the accompanying editorial (as seen on their website) as very "static".

Refreshing to see SZA cover Vogue. I’ve been wondering when she would nab a cover after seeing the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Billie. Can’t say I’m crazy about the cover, but happy for her nonetheless.

Why Aw choose this people to be head of content? to make her look good?...terrible, Sza looks ok

The cover is strong and it is the best cover under her tenure (although that is not saying much), but the styling and the art direction of the editorial is pretty much non existing. Bonus points for making that Alexander McQueen collection work as it looks appealing.

Are you aware that those image descriptions are for the blind and visually impaired who use screen reader software so they can consume the content on a computer screen of smart phone?

I think it’s just performative. British Vogue doesn’t caption all of its posts this way, just a select few. Selective accesibility? I could be mistaken; there could be a population of profoundly blind people rushing to Instagram to hear a description of how the latest cover subject of Vogue is displaying her bright red nails and standing in front of a neutral-color studio backdrop, but I seriously doubt anyone has asked for this.

I like the cover. Sza looks good, the styling feels seasonally appropriate.

🫢

But in all seriousness, I wonder how many blind and visually impaired people actually use an app based solely on visual experience of photograhs. By extension, how many blind and visually impaired people would be interested in exploring a fashion magazine that doesn't have much more to offer than its visual attempts at sale.

The cover looks striking. SZA looks very good and I love the beautiful green in her outfit. I am getting Meisel vibes.

The photography is nothing special. Very generic. It looks like a catalog shot from an email newsletter.

It's a very pretty cover. I love the pose, the tones.

However, judging by that Instagram caption (I'll ignore the irritating virtue-signaling image description part), it's yet another story about a trailblazing game changer who keeps fighting her own insecurities while redefining world as we know it. Please! Can they do a normal profile about a celebrity nowadays?

The cover gives nothing especially for a December issue, but I am just so happy that Sza finally gets a Vogue cover.

The cover is good… Happy SZA got the cover… The editorial however… Very Bland… Very Boring and uninspiring the styling feels off.. I guess at this point we have to be happy with a decent cover at the very least.
