UK Vogue January 2023 : Iman by Nadine Ijewere

Was this intended for Vogue France? The style of it does not look at all like Vogue UK at all.

Somehow this cover made me realized how badass a Grace Jones cover could be. Good to see Iman though.

prefer the second cover and I hope to find it on the newsstands.

I like it but there’s something very amateur about it. even if it does allude to vintage editorials.
in some of the photos her head looks tiny and if feels out of proportion.

For some reason, this makes me think of Karen Mulder for UK Vogue by Tyen…
Very vintage looking but quite a letdown for me. I wish it was by Meisel because I think Iman is one of those models who needs a director to really perform!

Her Helmut Newton ed will ever be her most iconic but good nevertheless.

Love the covers and ed, especially the vintage feel. When i saw the cover on instagram I thought it was a throwback considering how young she looks here. I think its the dark hair thats giving her the youghful look since we are used to seeing her with the honey/brown hair. I also agree that the photography is missing something, that punch.

It looks 1970s-80s but in a really good way, as others have said Edward's Vogue covers are best when they lean into vintage e.g. his first cover.

also this is Iman's first BV cover?! I'm joining the ranks of the shocked, I thought a super at her level would have scored the big 4 decades ago!

As usual with Edward, the hype is far greater than the end product.

And can Enninful ever edit an issue of UK Vogue without patting himself on the back for social media applause?

Anyways, Iman deserves much better.

Very happy for Iman and it's what she deserves, but I hate both covers. Was Meisel not available?

I don't hate them, I actually like them but they'd be so much better in the hands of a different photographer.

I'm here for surprises as we head into the holiday season, and Iman making her British Vogue debut has certainly took me by surprise. I do love how vintage the two covers look and feel, and how reminiscent Nadine Ijewere's photography here is of Hiro (with a dash of Jean-Paul Goude).

For me, the two covers are both equally as strong as each other and I don't have a firm favourite. Perhaps I do appreciate the cover with the Sun Woo glove for how bold, graphic and fashion-forward it is but also love that Alaia and how Iman's working it!

Both covers are fine & some photos of the edit, Iman looks weird with these expressions. I don't know if photoshop made her unrecognizable.

Is lacking of something. Even Iman or the Penn style can't save it. Mona's ed is amazing.
