UK Vogue January 2023 : Iman by Nadine Ijewere

Ew. Such an overrated woman. Where is that work that made her a legend? She was same ugly filler girl in the 70th Vogue eds Justaguy posted

I really love how models from the 70s, 80s, 90s and now 2000s make a comeback.I was expecting Taylor by Meisel, but this is a nice twist of the expectation. In another note, even the lack of representation is so true and sad, quite dislake to see the faces of models I love and they have nothing to do when they're talking about racism. I'm seeing Daria, Jamie, etc, and their images are attached to something so negative in the video. Blame the designers and casting directores for that, use their faces, not other models that don't have the fault for it. Those are still working for the fashion industry.

The pictures are fine, but the fillers and photoshop make her look more like Beverly Johnson, than herself.
Especially on the cover.:ermm:

If only. She looks more like Toni Braxton.

(Decent enough covers. This Vogue only ever produces a solid cover when it's ripping off Diana's Vogue wholesale. Terribly bland story. Always expect the leastest from Nadine and you’ll never be disappointed.)

Okay, now I'm seeing Toni.

I'm mad, she deserved SO SO SO MUCH BETTER !!!
- They selected bad angles for her face,
- The lighting is AWFULLLLLL
- and the coloring is weird too
She looked much better on her W cover and in the docu-series of Vogue and Black models ''Supreme Models'' on YouTube.

All hail the queen!!!! Other Vogue editions should follow suit!!!

You must be kidding ????
- sooooo many covers of Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmo
- sooo many high fashion runways worldwide
- sooo many designers who picked her as a muse
- sooo many legendary advertising campaigns
- more than 40 years working in high fashion and commercial modeling spheres

I can hate on these covers but I have to say she has had a literally legendary career mate.

As a child, before I ever opened a copy of Vogue, and long before she was Mrs Bowie, I knew her as the Tia Maria woman, which has remained the essence of Iman for me. I can never see a picture of her without remembering this advert.

On a side note, Tia Maria is not what it was, even though they claim to have not changed the formula, so that phase where some of my Friday night TFS posts were powered by it is long over (brands2me) :

The pictures are gorgeous but I can’t recognize her to be honest.
This! Not that the pictures are bad, but they way they have erased her age is quite disturbing.

And why not hire Jean Paul Goude for a Jean Paul Goude inspired shoot?

Why, oh why, couldn't they get Meisel to shoot this? Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with the vintage aesthetic, the styling and the glorious Iman, but I can't help but wonder how much more iconic it would've been had Meisel been involved. For one, the lighting wouldn't have been so dulled and all the colors would pop more.

But regardless, I am absolutely obsessed with the portrait of Iman in purple Saint Laurent! Magnificent. And the two cover choices are excellent, I honestly wouldn't be able to decide which one to get from the newsstand. Not sure why there's so much fuss about the plastic surgery, it's perfectly natural in this day and age and Iman looks incredible.

She's undeniably had an impact on the fashion industry, you can dislike her all you like but you can not deny her status. And to call her ugly certainly makes me question your judgement.

Iman = Happy!
She's earned her 'Legend'.
It's the makeup for me. The eye liner completely alters how her eyes look; changes her face unnecessarily.
That's ok in a fashion sense, but when you photograph someone like Iman, maybe give us makeup to make her more recognizable, then do a few photos with the change in makeup.
Wish we could get something more elevated like this for US Vogue.

Nothing spectacular, but I'm happy to see Iman on a cover of this magnitude, I like the vintage vibe!

I read the title and the lack of Meisel made me expect something new and fresh, but this concept is actually what they should have called him for.

I want to like this far more than I actually do. Amazing to see Iman here, so here for it! Shoot wise, I think it just looks like a lesser version of much better things however.
