I love my mom's vintage rhinestone pins. I have one that is like a snowflake that I wear on a pair of my brown gauchos and it makes them POP. I have one duffel bag where it's covered with various pins-some from my Campfire days, some from Hot Topic, some that I've amassed from French Camp, and some that I just happen to get. It makes statements, as one half of the strap is devoted to Happy Bunny pins. However my friend has the funniest pin-"Atheism Is A Non-Prophet Association" that is on her backpack and another friend had one that said "Mommy Make The Scary Republican Go Away".

tulip-I have many uses. I use them to hold together a vintage cardigan with no buttons. The funny ones are for backpacks, duffel bags, or even one of my purses. I'm a fan of them on gauchos especially plain black ones. I'll try it on almost anything. I don't like it on sweatshirts or jackets though.

how do you wear your pins?
On anything I won't be sitting on directly ... -_-

I have a rather morbid interest in Victorian hair jewelry; here's a brooch with hair in a woven style:

And to continue with the Victorian theme, a scene cut from Irish bog oak, which I gather was used rather prevalently during the times:

I usually wear my pins on t-shirts, cardigans and bags, I think Iekeliene wears pins well:

i really want some pins, i have hardly any! inspired by marie antoinette i'd really love to buy some pastel coloured bows and work something with that and some charms. i love going into art and craft stores and just buying loads of stuff and seeing what i can do with it.

i just got this one in the mail yesterday..i havent even had the chance to wear it; but i plan to debut it on my first day of work....but maybe its a tad too..i dont know, goth perhaps? i think its just stunning; i also ordered one with a red bulb..i dont know when ill be recieving that..im getting impatient on my other 2 broaches...:innocent:

Christopher Kane

Brooching the Subject

The glittering, Swarovski-clad brooches that arrived as part of Christopher Kane's autumn/winter 2008-9 offering are bound to become as much of a cult as his glittering 'Bolster' necklaces.

Ballistic Rose Brooch

A space-age adornment that makes a subversive stand-in for brooch or bow-tie; to be worn over the heart for extra love in times of conflict.

wiw  some really lovely ones u posted there ..

--------------

what do u guys like in terms of 'closures' ???

there are these with the needles at the back and u just slide it across ur shirt...

gasolinealleyantiques

and then there are needles that point in toward your body and you put a knob on the inside of your shirt to close it.

shipsbecks.wordpress

are there any more kinds of needles / pin closures ?
could you post the underside of the pins you have :p
i find even safety pins will make permanent HOLES in my t-shirts.. :( i really don't like the holes

^ Hey Gius...
Glad you like...
I personally prefer the first pin style..
It is much more comfortable..
& I am more @ ease b/c the possibility of an injury is slight...

The Ballistic Rose Brooch is great gift idea...
So tenebrous & romantic, rly...

I think we need a thread for bracelets...
Cuff-links...
& Random bits such as head-wear, gloves,
wearable trinkets, etc...
Could be fun..

the pin one is def my favourite, it's much more comfortable and it doesn't bulge out, although I don't really wear brooches that often
