Brunette to Blonde

I've never used at home hair dye, but if you have really dark hair, I'd really recommend getting it done at a salon if you can afford it. I have seen more than a few going-blond disasters, so just be careful. :flower:

I am a natural blonde and I am afraid I am going to just tell people that...if you are going blonde then bleech your eyebrows blonde too!!! It just looks so stupid when you see bleech-blondes with black eyebrows - what is that about!?

DONT do it yourself. thats my only advice. You can mess up horribly and it'll be terribly difficult to repair your hair. If its the first time going blonde go to a hairdresser. It's worth it!

My hair is black and I bleach it and then color it very light ash blonde. I do it myself (with my mom's help) but at first I went to the salon. If you don't want to go to a salon then keep in mind that if your hair is dark brown to black and you want it very light blonde you need to pre-light it first, if not it end up looking orange or bright yellow (very fake).

About brands, I use Preference by L'oreal and love the color.
I have use Hydrience by Clairol and it is very gentle and leave my hair in good condition. My mom recently used ColorSilk by Revlon and the color looks great. But remember that with dark hair you can't expect the result to look the same as in the picture on the box, for that you need to light it first.

Try to go to a salon, at least the first time, if you know someone (or see someone) with beautiful color hair, ask them what salon they go to :).

i've been wanting to go blonde as well, i'm currently brunette. i've only dyed my hair once & it was a complete disaster. i went in for ONLY blonde highlights & ended up with completely bleached hair so I went back the next day & got it dyed back to dark brown. that's been years back though & ever since i haven't done anything to my hair and it's still healthy. i've heard that hair that hasn't been "messed with" like dyed too much etc would be great for going blonde since it hasn't been previously damaged as much. ( I don't know if I explained that correctly. :/ ) but anyways, for you that have gotten this done what's the upkeep like. I know that conditioning treatments are good to do afterwards, but what about getting your roots done...how often? Like every two months or more? I'm very curious, because I don't wanna go into something not knowing what I'm getting into.

My hair was dyed a pretty dark brown colour but over the summer have faded to somewhat of a faded red-ish colour. Now i really want to go blonde. Is it possible without my hair turning orange/yellow? and more importantly is it possible without spending a fortune on it?
Thanks =)

I am naturally a brunette but spent a few years blonde and unfortunately despite having DARK i get blonde in the sun..the problem is when you dye your hair back to brown (if you ever do) the blonde comes through. I have to apply a brown rinse every time i was my hair because even with permanent dye...in two weeks im blonde again...sucks
