oh i thort u where dirty blonde it looks brunnette prob cause of the lighting though

I say go blonde (but do it in a very good hairsalon) and if you don't like it then try red..the color will look good..

I am blonde now (fake) going violet. My hair is blonde because I had shock color before  My friend just coloured it :P

I hate when people say "Blondes are always so hot.." There are just as many hot brunettes as there are blondes! I could name a million blondes who aren't hot right now... yes some blondes do look great, and other brunettes look sexy just as well... besides, I have brown hair and brown eyes and I can make that look good so it doesn't depend on the features alone, it's really about how the package comes together.

Blond to brown to blond again ...is it possible ?

Hi Everyone .... I'm new here and this is my first post. Nice to meet you all. I've came to all you knowledgable style gurus for some advice :D

I'm a natural blond and my salon has been using a semi-permanent brown on my hair. I now want to return to blond and my stylist is saying that I won't be able to

My hairstylist doesn't want to use bleach on my hair (and I don't want her to as it will ruin my hair) but I desperately want to return to blond.

Has anyone else had this experience and went from blond, brown to blond again ? How long did the process take ? Did you have to dye it back progressively or did you just go straight for the bleach ?

Please help.

Many thanks in advance.

If it was a true semi-permanent, it should come out relatively easily. Try to ask your stylist exactly what they used on your hair.
There are professional products available to the public called colour removers; I would encourage you to let a pro do it but people have succesfully done it themselves. If used properly, the colour remover will "pull" the brown out and reveal the blond underneath. You can buy them from beauty supply shops- Clairol makes a good one, in my opinion.
However, remember that your colour underneath is not your original "natural" blond anymore. The colour your stylist deposited into your hair needed to "lift" some of your natural colour out (to make room for the brown to "get in")-even though you went darker. Going lighter or permanent would have been much, much worse.

If you are not in an urgent situation to remove the brown, you can use specific shampoos that have a reputation for stripping artificial colour out of the hair.
Prell is the most notorious one I can think of, but an anti-dandruff shampoo that contains sulfur will also work.
Either way, your hair will need serious conditioning afterward; removing colour can really fry your hair.
Good Luck, and please post your solution (if you find one).

It's funny you post this, because I'm naturally blonde and have wanted to go brown for a while. I haven't because I don't want anything that is permanent. If you look at all the semi-permanent boxes of hair color you'll see that it's not recommended for blondes to go brown, even with temporary hair color.

So I think it may be quite possible for it to be unpossible to go back to your color, since that's quite a change of color for your hair. I've done temporary red/light, light auburn, but that's about the best I can do with my hair without chancing not being able to be back at my natural (medium) blonde color after the color fades.

I've done this about a thousand times (I've even been able to go from dyed black to “natural” blonde with no problem). Every time I get bored with being a brunette, my stylist weaves tons of thin, narrow blonde highlights through my hair in about 3 different shades (which lightens it up considerably). Repeat every day (or week) until it's light enough - no bleach required

^ The thing is... the natural color blonde is so light that darker colors tend to ruin the color, whether it's semi-permanent or not. Being a brunette, as you are, it is easier to go lighter and/or darker with no committment. Lucky!

i have been dying my hair brown for 3 yrs now...and i havent successfully found a way that wasnt "stripping" or "lifting" the brown out of my hair. I have had the lifting done, and it didnt do anything bad to my hair. however i do not recommend stripping it or bleaching it.

also you may also attempt to use the shampoos like someone recommended that are notorious for stripping colour out. pears is good for that and i forget another one, but its good(bad) that it will even remove perms.

i have been thinking about going back to my natural blonde, but im afraid the process will be not worth the headache. i'd grow it out but it will take forever, and my roots are a lot more noticable than dark roots on blonde hair.

Thanks everyone for replying and giving me suggestions. I'm still not sure what I'll do. I've got an appointment with my stylist on Thursday to have a chat about it. I may just keep the colour as it is at the moment and continually wash it with a normal shampoo as I do notice the colour fades quite a bit after each wash. Hopefully then it will be a light enough brown that she'll be able to put blond highlights in or even a whole head of blond colour through it.

Thanks again :flower:

I'm a natural blonde. Dirty blonde, but blonde nonetheless :P

Hi chic hippy,
I am in the process of going back to blonde after having been blonde, then brown!!

I was like a light ash blonde since i was about 15,then about 3 years ago, I went really dark chocolate brown... I thought i couldnt go back to blonde as i had been having my hair dyed brown for 3 years and had such a colour build up on my hair...

But then, the other day i asked about it and my hairdresser said it was fine! I had highlights put into my hair, and it is now light brown...next time i am going back to blonde!

I had bleach put through my hair for the highlights and then a toner colour put on top. its come out really well, and i cant wait to go back to blonde!!!

So it definitely can be done!

I hope it's possible:blink:...
I'm blonde and I found out I will be turning into a brunette for work.
I love my hair and I don't want it to dry out or damage by having to dye it!!
...Is there any hair mask/product to maintain it looking relatively healthy??:o

It wont damage your hair when you dye it brown from blonde...if you use a semi permanent...it had the opposite effect on me and made it really shiny! when you want to go back to blonde it will make it dry though. Mine is already feeling dryer.

any intensive conditioner will improve it, ask your hairdresser for a good one, then leave it on for 5 mins when you use it, before rinsing...

Of course it is!!!
Chill

I do it all the time, the secret is CAMOMILE, in a week your hair is almost light brown, then dark blonde, then more blonde... and one day you are ready to go to the hair salon to put some lights in your hair, and voilá.

It works for me, i hope it works for you.

Hmm, looks like we're in just about the same situation.
I'm a natural blonde.. have been for 15 years =)
In November I decided to dye my hair a light golden brown and then did a medium golden brown about 5 weeks later. I dyed it that colour again just about two weeks ago, but I'm wanting to be blonde again. I mean, gosh, blondes have more fun, right? lol

I definetly wouldn't reccomend bleaching. Your hair is probably damaged enough and bleaching won't make it any better. What I'm hoping to do with my hair is dye it a light brown, then go to dark blonde, and hope for the best. Or I might do that whole highlighting ordeal.

I hope it all works out for ya, dear =)

How about getting lots of thin highlights in several shades of blonde?

This is what I did last year with my hair and it works really nicely. My hair is ash blonde and I was dyeing it an auburn. The only problem I had with going back to my natural colour is that it really does look flat compared to a dyed job. The highlights are a great way to avoid the flat look while still letting your hair recouperate... somewhat But better than boring!
