Budget Friendly Makeup

revlon color stay undereye concealer..lovely coverage, exact match to my skin, and i use it all over my face, not just the under eyes, as it covers everything pretty well

im SO tempted to buy sleek eyeshadow pallete in sunset, i found it on ebay for way cheap...omg should i? i have horrible affliction with buyers remorse!

^I am still looking for the sleek storm palette and I have not yet heard one bad review about it, I say if you like the colours and think you will use it then definitely buy it! I sometimes think small buys as such brighten up my day more than a huge/expensive purchase as I feel its money well spent (Rather than guilt I guess!)

OMG! i went on ebay to purchase the sleek eyeshadow pallete in susent, they doubled the price? what gives? dammit!

^I KNOW! I didn't use anything water based today because I get broken capillaries soooo easily. I hate this, I really do.

BTW anyone in here know Gosh? Danish brand i think, makes a lot of affordable stuff. Some of it is pretty brilliant! Their waterproof eye shadow stick is the best base ever - whatever you put on top will not budge. They also don't add perfume, very nice! Their pigments (called Effect Powder) are very nice as well and comes in a lot of different colours. Brilliant for those who love their brights!

And I think they are against animal testing, in case anyone is wondering.

ive heard of Gosh from youtube, i watch a girl called lollipop26 doing reviews on it, its supposed to be a really good quality, cheap brand...i dont know, its not available in the US

i have serious issues with my buyers remorse...

so i found 2 more eyeshadow pallets, and ive only gone as far as "watching" the items

im going to wait a few more days before i take the plunge...

If anyone has a Graphite palette they want to part with for a decent price (yeah, right!), let me know. Ebay is shockingly expensive, triple the price not even counting postage. I can't find one anywhere, they're all sold out here.

i know what you mean, i was on ebay 2 nights ago(?) and i saw a graphite pallet, but they wanted $24 dollars for it..i was like :shock:

and i still cant take the plunge intothe deep end, as im still "watching" those 2 palletes!...

argh...i hate buyers remorse!:yuk:

I posted this in the E.L.F. Cosmetics thread, and since so many people visiting this thread seem to be E.L.F. fans, I'll repost here:

Here's an article on E.L.F. that I came across today...

And though I balk when the article states "compares favorably to $30 and $50 per item for most department store brands" - it gives you an idea of the brand.

Talk about putting lipstick on a pig.

When Ted Rubin, head of
marketing for E.L.F., a budget make-up company, talks about the Great Recession, he describes it as a welcome blessing, one part of “a perfect storm” that's helped facilitate stellar growth at the mostly online retailer over the past two years. Before the downturn, he tells Minyanville, “People would whisper about using E.L.F. They’d say, ‘Yeah, I use E.L.F. lip gloss, but I’m a M.A.C. buyer.’ Now, cheap is chic, and everybody is looking for ways to save a buck.”

E.L.F., which stands for “Eyes, Lips, Face” makes an entire line of make-up that only costs $1 a piece. That’s right: lipstick is $1, foundation, $1, even brushes are $1 per stick. Two other “premium” labels within the company are slightly costlier, at $3 and $5 per product, which still compares favorably to $30 and $50 per item for most department store brands, even if E.L.F.’s quality is described by many users as simply “fine.”

I agree to an extent when he says that cheap is chic, there is a lot less shame I suppose when it comes to buying low price products. Having said that I will never purchase their nail polish again :ninja:

^ I wouldn't venture to say "cheap is chic" though.. I was going to note that... Perhaps I don't like the word "cheap" - I prefer "value is chic"

Oh value is a much better word to describe it ;) The all over cover stick I purchased from them has grown on me since I first started using it ^_^

Rimmel mono eye shadow. Surprisingly nice! It needs a good base to really bring the colour out (my fave is from Gosh, wearing it on the pic too), the pigmentation is pretty average. But damn, pretty colours! And super cheap too.

The colour is much deeper without flash, still gorgeous though! So glad I didn't spend my money on MAC...

Striking colour indeed! I'm a sucker for MAC, but I'll keep Rimmel in mind.

I see a lot of people raving about Urban Decay's primer potion, but I'd rather not spend $18 on just primer. I don't wear foundation or concealer so I'm not sure what else I could use instead of that.. Body butter, a moisturising cream?
