While I think the Burberry thing seems a bit weird right now, I think Riccardo made a very strategic decision.
The market is beyond competitive and being at the helm of a global brand can only help to raise even more his profile...
Add to that the fact that he left Givenchy on good terms with the Arnault! He is good.
I believe his Burberry contract might be for 5 years like a lot of people right now...I don’t see him doing 10. 5 years is a very long but quite short period at the same time...Michele has been at the helm of Gucci for 4 years (he might be in negociation phase right now) and it feels like he has been there forever.
In 4 years, if Burberry has a good or decent success, Riccardo’s future will be safe...But if Versace’s strategy is not working, they might need him...
Maybe, but who knows what the industry will be like by the time his contract is over.
