Caffeine - Friend or Foe?

Friend? More like "elixir of life"! I'm dead in the morning until I get a few cups. I would love to just drink tea but I have so much work to do that I need all the (temporary) boosts of energy I can. Something is happening, the older I get the more tired I feel and it happened recently too...

^ The more tired you feel after drinking coffee, you mean?

Perhaps friend, I indulge once in a while but I am definitely not addicted. I love a hot tea as well, especially in the brisk cold mornings. I'm still surprised that I'm not like my other friends and using coffee as a way to stay up late at night and I don't sleep too too much either,

hmmm I'm sure it will catch up with me someday :innocent:

I don't see caffeine as a problem in peoples diet, so long as it's balanced out with water.

ETA: When i say caffeine, I mean black coffee or coffee with dairy-free milk (latte, cappuccino etc.)

I agree. :) my family bought a new high tech nescafe machine thinggy, and they've been drinking tones of cappuccino and lattes. I would keep away because for #1 i thought it would crash my diet and #2 it wasnt good for you. But i documented myself, and apparently black coffee, in reasonnable amount, has many benefits and is calorie-less. (except for instant coffee, but its like 2cal) anyway! I first started out with the cappuccinos and bougt some black yesterday, its so gooooood! :p and awesome part is that im the only to drink it so the whole thing is mine!

So obviously for me its a friend :)

I love caffeïne, but I might have to quit it for medical reasons within a few weeks. Untin that's official I keep enjoying my coffee, hard :ninja:.

^ I don't know what I'd do! It'd almost be like asking a smoker to quit cold turkey, but of course... I have never smoked... but imagine it's extremely tough.

Yeah, it's not something I look forward to, ofcourse there's decafé, but still..
Well, I'd better pour myself a cup of coffee and think of something else :innocent:

Me too!!! I had an anxiety attack from being sick and I ended up in the hospital. While there, they told me I was really dehydrated and I've only had water and juice for the past few days. I'm integrating coffee though-only one cup a day though.

^ Yeah... unfortunately with caffeine you have to be sure to up the already standard 8-cups a day. Is it true that for each cup of coffee you need to drink a glass of water to cancel it out?

i love coffee, i can drink at any time of day or nite, i love instant or turkish, greek, and i drink like 5 cups per day.

i drink coffee for the taste not for the caffeine. but i tried switching to Starbucks Half Caf Ground, the coffee tasted so bland so it's still sitting on my shelf. i prefer the Breakfast Blend Mild, so yummy but last i checked it doesn't come decaffeinated * sigh *. right now i'm drinking one of their glass bottled Mocha Fraps

yeah thats true, some cellulite creams out there even have caffeine in it.

I think it helps restore muscles as well. Even though I am not a big coffee drinker ( will get one in the morning if I haven't had enough sleep the night before) I tend to try to drink a short coffee at least an hour after exercising.

^ I try to drink caffeine BEFORE exercising. Gives me a nice little boost.. as long as I'm fully rested.

i find it makes me stay awake very late if I drink it in the evening.
