Caffeine - Friend or Foe?

I am a coffee addict. This is my daily coffee routine (this is on a school day):
6am- Wake up
6.30am- Black coffee with breakfast
10.30am- Black coffee at break time
12pm - Cappuccino between lessons
1.30pm - Coffee (usually a mocha or cappuccino) with my lunch in a cafe with my friends
5pm - Coffee when I get home from college

I often have Diet Coke throughout the day, too, but I only buy caffeine-free Diet Coke now, though, as I'm aware that my daily caffeine intake is much too high! I love caffeine and I don't think I'd ever be able to live without it. My coffee cravings get too bad.
 
I´m not an addict, but I love my coffee and I´m not giving it up. I lost the ciggies, the red meat, the unprotected suntan, but this I´m keeping.

I am luckily not addicted yet, but I look forward to my daily coffee(s) that's for sure.
 
I drink soda in the morning before I've had anything to eat... I know that's not good for my stomach. :(
 
^that really isnt good for you! Coffee is probably better.

Ohhh, I know. But I don't enjoy coffee... I drink it only for the caffeine and after a while the thought of it makes me stomach turn. ;) Ohhh, what I do for caffeine.
 
I'm a total coffee junkie. I need to drink loads of water though, otherwise my skin just looks/feels like crap. I have the same problem with chocolate.. So I'm constantly needing to pee lol
 
People always think I'm weird because I don't drink coffee or tea at all but I'm just really not bothered about it, I thought I'd like it more when I got older but so far still no interest.

I'm going to visit my friend who works at starbucks soon so he's going to apparently try and get me into it...we'll see!
 
i agree with softgrey - it's a friend in moderation.

i love a good cup of coffee in the morning, the smell of it alone is bliss :wub: lol. i usually just stick to having one a day, sometimes another one after dinner.. but i think i may be somewhat addicted to my morning cup ! i definitely notice a difference to the days when i dont start my day with one.. don't know if that's just because its become routine for me or not.

i'm also slightly obsessed with jasmine green tea at the moment :heart:
not sure how much caffeine is in there, but it usually relaxes me.. and i'll take all the relaxation i can get!

i never drink sodas or energy drinks though.. the thought of the sugars and chemicals in there freaks me out a little. :ninja:
 
SUCH a love-hate relationship...
I tried to go without coffee in this morning...and it was just terrible....felt EXHAUSTED(8.5hrs of sleep), sick(completely healthy) and had a nauseating headache...needless to say I caved...can't function without it :-/
 
^ I've gotten to that point. It isn't a good thing. :(
 
Former caffeine addict but once I realized how dehydrating caffeine is for my body I switched to herbal teas. The detox headaches were horrendous for months but finally my skin looks better for it. And I can make it thru the day w/o midafternoon slump just fine and wake up w/o it. I think that like sugar, the blood level spikes of caffeine cant be all that good for me so I quit. Even one cup of coffee in the morning keeps me awake all night now. Too harsh!:shock::yuk: And coffee breath is the worst.

Diet Pepsi tho... iz my crack!! I save it for parties or vacations. Makes me wired and hilarious! Or totally obnoxious. Depending, I guess.

I'm another one of these caffeine sensitized individuals. Coffee triggers a huge cortisol release for me, inducing anxiety, muscle tension and exhaustion. There is an energy boost element depending on how awake I already am, but it's hard to predict how it will affect me.

It took me a long time to come to terms with this though as I LOVE black coffee. I went from full caffeine to half-caf and now I manage to make a pretty rich cup of decaf. Even decaf has some caffeine though so I can only have one cup...
 
I stopped drinking caffeine a few weeks ago, I should have done that earlier.
I still love my coffe, but now I drink decaf (wich tastes just as good imo).
 
I heard if you drink caffeine in the morning (coffee), it speeds up the metabolism.

That's just what I heard though! I could be very wrong.

i heard that it's not as bad as people think... it has lots of antioxidants.
don't know if it's true or false, but it's great to think that coffee is healthy, if your drink lots of it! :lol:

I HATE the taste of coffee. I always have. My colleagues routinely take the mick out me for being the only one at work who doesn't drink coffee. In my teens, I thought I'd grow to like it in my twenties, but am 23 now, and still hate it. I have about two glasses of green tea every day, though.

My personal coffee is hot chocolate. I drink about 3 glasses of chocolate every say. :p
 
I have become a caffeine addict. Coffee and Diet Coke is all I drink. All day. I never have water anymore because I figure the coffee counts.

And then I get those headaches. :doh:
